Ans. In terms of reputation and scope after pursuing the course, both IISC Bangalore and CMI are equivalent. If you want to pursue a career in pure mathematics CSI offers more opportunities via better peer groups and abstract treatment in mathematics. In CMI one must take computer science or physics alongside maths and has to complete the course seriously. But if you are interested in the combination of maths and physics then you can apply to IISC Bangalore because the college is better at an undergraduate level in the teaching of science.  Duration and Admission: IISC Bangalore offers BS (Bachelor of Science) in Mathematics for a duration of 4 years. The selection of the program is done on the basis of marks obtained in KVPY exam/IIT Mains/IIT Advanced/NEET. The duration period for the B.Sc Mathematics in CMI is 3 years and for selection, the institute conducts an entrance test. Course Curriculum: IISC has both theoretical and practical focus, in the first year of the course, students have to attend lectures as well as laboratory sessions. Whereas in CMI the course curriculum is more theoretical. The total course fee at IISC and CMI is respectively INR 75,000 and INR 6 lakhs. Placements: The top recruiters of IISc Bangalore include giant names like TATA, Reliance, Maxo India, etc. The highest package went up to INR 40 LPA and the average package went up to INR 15 LPA during 2019 placement.  Approximately 25% of the batch got between INR 20 LPA to 30 LPA in the final placements. Some of the major recruiters at CMI are Credit-Suisse, Ernest & Young, TRDDC, Adobe, Zen Drive, Teradata, etc. In 2019 campus placement the median CTC was 14.8 LPA and the highest was 16.54 LPA.  Read more

Ans. The interviews for the M.Tech (nanoscience and engineering) program are conducted on the campus of IISc Bangalore. The interviews usually take around 3 days to get completed. There will be 4 panels with 4 faculties each. Generally, around 200-300 participants are called for the interview. The interviews start with a few general questions, regarding the preference for the subject and introduction. Then the technical part of the interview starts, the interviews are not very technical or difficult, the questions asked in the interview are aimed to test the student and how eager the student’s basic knowledge is in the subject. Students are also asked questions from their UG Projects. A typical interview ranges for 40 minutes to an hour. To prepare for the interview, clear your basic understanding of the subject and follow the syllabus for undergraduate and GATE.Read more

Ans. The pattern for GATE paper remains the same every year. It’s a standard pattern for GATE.  The total mark is 100.  The time duration is three hours.  There are 65 questions MCQ and NAT type questions are asked General Aptitude section carries 15% of the total mark (i.e. 15 marks) Remaining 85% of the marks are based on the subject of the paper (85 marks) There is a negative marking of one-third of the marks for MCQs carrying 1 marks each and for MCQs carrying 2 marks two-third of the marks are deducted. No negative marking for NAT questions. This is the standard question paper pattern that is to be followed in the GATE paper. It doesn’t matter which institute is organizing it, it remains the same. The question paper for GATE is set by a committee that comprises the faculties of IISc and all the IITs. So the difficulty level of the question paper is based on the committee which is involved in the making of the paper and not on the organizing institute of that year.  Read more

    STUDENT SATISFACTION RATINGS
    Remarks -
    9.5 /10

Very Feasible, Once you get through in any course you get stipend here. Fee id deducted by the stipend itself so you don't have to pay any penny as fee once you're a part of this institute. Hostel and mess fee is also reasonable which floats around 1000 and 3000 INR respectively.
