Karnatak University Dharwad (KUD) established in the year 1950 when it got became a statutory university by the then Bombay Presidency under the Bombay Legislature by the Karnatak University Act, 1949.

Karnatak University Dharwad, offers various UG, PG, PG Diploma & Certificate courses in the faculties of Arts, Science, Management, Commerce, Education & Law in both affiliated & constituent colleges. KUD also have three Post Graduate Centre located in the districts of Karwar, Gadag & Haveri. The minimum eligibility criteria to seek admission in courses offered by KUD is 45% marks in aggregate (40% for SC/ST) in the qualifying examination. Karnatak University Dharwad Exam Timetable
At present, KUD has 264 affiliated colleges along with 5 constituent colleges. Apart from UG courses, only 44 PG courses have been sanctioned for the KUD affiliated colleges. For PG courses the assessment has been performed in terms of theory & practical exam conducted by the respective BOE.
KUD conducts semester examinations twice in a year to evaluate the performance of students after the completion of the coursework. For PG courses the University follows the Choice Based Credit System (CBSS) as a part of the course structure. Karnatak University Distance Education
Karnatak University Invites students to join its UG & PG external programmes under the School of Correspondence Education Dharwad. This year KUD is offering non-semester based courses under the category of Basic, Optional & Compulsory programmes.
Students can download the application form in order to apply for the courses offered by the distance education department. Students have to submit their application form to the nearest college (selected as an examination center).

Karnatak University Dharwad (KUD) conducts the semester examinations twice in a year i.e. in the months of May & December. Students can check their UG & PG external results (for affiliated colleges) & PG results (for constituent colleges) by following the official website of Dharwad University.
To check the status of revaluation students, have to follow the same steps as that prescribed for KUD results.
It has formed a cultural organization with the name “Vishvachetana” to push cultural activities and togetherness among teachers, students, and other staff.
Karnatak University sports section organizes competitions and selection for the students of the affiliated colleges of seven districts according to the calendar.
Karnatak University is sprawling over 750 acres of land. The campus is provided with following infrastructural facilities such as Computer Centre, Health Centre, Canteen etc.
The university has a well-equipped library with a seating capacity of 300 readers. The library has a collection of over 3 lakhs of books. It has 10000+ volumes and 45966 bound volumes. The library also has 32111 UN Publications.
