The mechanical department, CS and Mining department, faculty, and their achievement are renowned and the best in India. with the student to faculty, the ratio is around 15:1, one can ask for any project help from any professor irrespective of branch many of them always help or allot their research assistant with similar interest to guide you.
Well, I choose the EEE course as this is one of the core course. You can move to any field if you choose EEE. They're also a choice for the minor course along with major or cor course. Well, the future is moving towards electricity and it is the most important need to present mankind. You will also be able to move towards research like quantum physics and space science research institute by EEE course. Faculty as no doubt are absolute best in NITK. There will be regular basis evaluation and more weight in marks is given to regular quizzes and assignment with 60 % weightage to quizzes and assignement.
My decision was driven by my interest in physics. I opted for mechanical engineering. However proper counselling is needed to make a well-informed decision about what branch to choose. The ratio of faculty to a student depends on the individual branches and in mechanical it was about 25 students per professor as a rough estimate. Most are assistant professors and some have PhD from foreign universities too. Teaching method varies from professor to professor, most make the use of technology and teach according to the curriculum. The assessments are done by the method of relative grading which means the grade depends on how everybody else performs relative to you. The competition for the top grade exists but it's fairly easy to pass with a decent effort. The evaluation is continuous form, apart from mid-term and end-term exams, there are smaller exams and assignments given time to time.
Mechanical engineering was ranked one of the highest in India in terms of course content, professor quality, funding and placement. Faculty: student ~ 1:10. Great quality professors. All professors have a PhD and were well-experienced in their fields. They motivated students to do projects under them and publish papers. Exams were timed well with quizzes (3), mid-sem-1, and an end sem exam. They were scored based on a percentile system (bell-curve) and graded on a 10 point scale. Most exams were easy to pass provided on payed attention in class.
I was interested a lot in communications that is why I had chosen this ECE branch. I like electronics. There are a lot of faculty members who were very well experienced and phd candidates. Faculty:student ratio I think it is almost 1:20. As I mentioned most of the faculty members are phds and doctorates. They will teach in a quite unique way and very passionately. There are sem exams will be conducted at the end of sem and mid sem also there once in a sem, they are some what tougher for those who aren't study throughout the sem. One should regularly follow the subject.
The course curriculum is not updated fir our branch and irrelevant topics are taught. But we have many technical clubs in our college who helps in our projects and internships and makes our industry ready. Teachers here are outstanding and know what they are teaching. All the faculty members hold a PhD degree.
Curriculum is updated regularly but there are many subjects to study which increases the burden on students. Some subjecrs irrelevant to the computer field are also taught. Faculty is excellent and very helpful. They teach each topic in detail.
For mechanical branch everything is pretty good as we are provided with proper practical knowledge of every topic taught. Most of the time we are on field and.we are taken on many industrial visits. Faculty is really very good and cooperative.
Curriculum is good with both theorectical and practical knowledge provided. Professors of our department are really good and are ready to clear your doubts even after class hours. They are very helpful specially regarding your.projects and assignments.
