Kannur University established in 1995 is about to complete its 25 years in November. The University formerly known as Malabar University was rechristened to Kannur University in 1996.
Recognized by UGC and accredited by NAAC, Kannur University functions as a state university with as many as 8 campuses. The campuses are spread across Kasargod, Kannur and Mananthavadi Taluk of Wayanad districts in Kerala.

All admissions are based on merit or scores of previous qualifying examination except for B.Tech and MBA. The seat allocation is Online Centralized Process (CAP) for which students must apply for. KEAM and JEE Main are accepted for B.Tech while CAT, KMAT or CMAT are accepted for MBA. Admission for B.Ed, M.Ed, B.Lib.I.Sc & M.Lib.I.Sc does not require students to apply for CAP.

For MBA students of kannur university campus aka Palayad/Thalassery Campus, the fees is only 40 rupees per semester. It is a 2 year course which consist of 4 semesters. They offer dual MBA (Human Resource/Finance) and Marketing is compulsory.
