Kerala University was established in 1937. At present, it offers various UG, PG and Doctoral courses in several disciplines in the field of Engineering, Architecture, Law, Management, Basic Sciences, Arts, Commerce, and Education. Kerala University also offers distance education programs through the School of Distance Education (SDE)Application forms are available online for all the courses offered by Kerala University.

  • B.Tech. and B.Arch admission is based on the score in Kerala Engineering, Architecture and Medical and Pharmacy (KEAMentrance conducted by CEE, Kerala.
  • NATA qualified candidates are also eligible to apply for the B.Arch course.
  • Admission to all the courses offered at UG level except for BFA, BPA and B.P.Ed programs is completely merit-based. Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their marks in 10+2 followed by allotment rounds.
  • For BFA, BPA and B.P.Ed courses, the admission is based on the marks in the entrance test followed by an aptitude test and Physical proficiency test in the case of B.P.Ed.
  • For PG level programs, the university conducts an entrance test followed by an interview. Final admission in all the courses is subject to candidates’ performance in the entrance and interview with due weightage to the relevant work experience (if any).
  • For M.Tech, a valid GATE score holders are also eligible to apply.
  • For MBA (Full-Time), candidates are selected as per their marks in KMAT, CAT or CMAT followed by GD and PI.
  • Admission to M.Phil and Ph.D. courses is granted on the basis of university-based entrance followed by an interview.
  • DBT-JRF/ DST-INSPIRE/ UGC NET/ CSIR NET/ GATE/ ICAR/ ICMR or SLET qualified candidates are exempted from the Ph.D. entrance test.

Kerala University B.Tech & B.Arch Admission 2020

Kerala University offers B.Tech and B.Arch course in the various disciplines at the UG level. 10+2 with 50% marks in aggregate with PCM/B is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission. Candidates need to qualify in KEAM to secure admission in these courses. Candidates can also apply on the basis of NATA score for admission to B.Arch course.  

As a part of the selection process, KEAM qualified students have to attend the counseling session which will be organized by the Government of Kerala after the announcement of the result.

Kerala University UG Admission 2020: B.Sc, BA, BCA, B.Com, B.Ed, B.P.Ed, BPA, BFA, LL.B & BMS

At UG level, Kerala University offers B.Sc, BA, BCA, B.Com, B.Ed, B.P.Ed, BPA, BFA, LL.B & BMS courses in various streams. The basic eligibility criterion for admission to the undergraduate course is 10+2 in the related subject group.

The admission will be offered on the basis of final merit list prepared by the university. The final rank list is prepared on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in the qualifying examination and the subject related to the course of choice. In order to confirm their seats, the candidates have to participate in several allotment rounds conducted by the university.

Admission to BPA, BFA and B.P.Ed courses is entrance-based. For other courses, shortlisted candidates have to participate in the allotment rounds after which they need to report in the allotted college along with desired documents and printout of the duly filled application form.

Kerala University UG Courses Application Process:  Aspirants can apply online by visiting the official website of Kerala University. Students have to pay INR 350 for general (INR 150 for SC/ST) as application fee either online or through challan in any branch of SBI. In the case of payment through challan, the candidates have to retain the university copy as it will be required at the time of final admission.

Kerala University M.Tech, M.Arch, M.Plan, MBA & MCA Admission 2020

At PG level, the university offers M. Tech, M.Plan, M.Arch, MBA and MCA courses in various specializations. Apart from Full-Time mode, the MBA program is also offered in Part-time and evening modes. Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline is the minimum eligibility for admission.

MBA admission is offered on the basis of candidates’ performance in KMAT/ CAT or CMAT followed by GD and PI. For all the PG courses, Kerala University conducts separate entrance test followed by an interview. GATE qualified candidates are also eligible to apply for M.Tech program.

For MBA, The provisional rank list for admission to the MBA program will be prepared on the basis of the score obtained by the candidate in the Entrance Test (80% weightage), Group Discussion (10% weightage) and Interview (10% weightage).

Kerala University M.Phil Application Process

The application form can be filled online. Registration Fee of INR 500 (INR 250 for reserved categories) is to be remitted to the A/C No: 67153233669 in any branch of State Bank of India using challan. Candidates can also make the payment through online payment methods like Credit Card, Debit card or Net-Banking.

Kerala University Ph.D. Application Process

The application can be submitted online followed by submission of registration fee of INR 520 through Kerala University challan receipt/Friends cash receipts/DD (an additional amount of INR 10 has to be paid as service charge in case of DD). All remittances made by DD should be drawn in favor of ‘the Finance Officer, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram’ payable at payable at SBI Service Branch, Thiruvananthapuram and on District Co-operative Banks payable at State Co-operative Bank Head Office Branch, Thiruvananthapuram.

Exemptions from the Ph.D. Entrance Test

  • Candidates with the following qualifications are exempted from the entrance test for Ph.D. admissions: DBT-JRF, DST-INSPIRE.
  • Candidates/scholars with 7 years of experience and at least 2 research papers, candidates with DM/M.Ch. Degree, candidates working with Central/state government in the related areas of research.

Hi Divya, yes, you can apply for admission to this course provided you have scored at least 50% (45% if from reserved category) in your graduation. However, admission will be granted only on the basis of score in an entrance exam conducted by the university.

Registration process is expected to start from first week of March, 2020.

Hi Aswathy, students have to apply online on the official website of the university for entrance exam as the admission is approved on the basis of candidate's performance in the entrance exam. However, last date to apply for admission has already passed which was April 2, 2019 (tentatively). Thus, you cannot apply for admission in this session.
