Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS) is considered amongst the best Sanskrit Universities in India. It thrives to impart good knowledge in Sanskrit, other Indian as well as Foreign Languages, Fine Arts, and Social Sciences to the students.
The university came into being in the year 1994 in Kalady, Kerala. It has 8 regional campuses in Kerala, most of which are located in rural areas. The University is recognised by UGC and accredited with A Grade by NAAC.

The admission for UG courses is based on the merit list which is obtained on the basis of the marks scored in class 12th. However, for PG courses the admission is based on the Common Entrance Exam followed by an interview conducted by the University.

The college offers scholarships to meritorious students as well as to the students who belong to the economically weaker section. The scholarships offered are mentioned below:
The University provides scholarship to every student who has been enrolled in a Sanskrit core course on the basis of the attendance. The amount offered here as scholarships is INR 500 per month during the entire period of the course.
Merit scholarship is offered to students based on their attendance and merit. The selection criterion is decided by the university. The students must submit the application along with the qualifying certificates to the campus director or the head of the department within 15 days from the date of admission.
