In a place like Mumbai. I think this is the best one can get. The hostel and clean and nice place to live. I have been given single accommodation but the hostel seats are very coveted and not adequate. Students are all accommodated though. Mess food is good enough, healthy and with lots of variety. It is kind of pricey though.
In the fresher year we were given the new hostels which were equipped with almost all the basic amnities food quality cant be compared to that of what many of us were in a habit of mummy's food, but still it was decent enough. but senior hostel infrastructure is not good and should be renovated. hostel room size is very very small .
the food is good and very cheap (nearly 3000 per month with breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner). All the freshers will get sharing rooms (2 or 3 per room), They will be given single rooms from the succeeding year. there is no such case arrives where students won't get accommodation as the admissions are given as per the availability only and all residents are required to be in the campus ( unless they are residents of the same city ) to avail all the facilities provided on the campus
Hostel facilities include all the general amenities and hygiene but the size of rooms is too small and some rooms also lack ventilation and balcony. In older hostels, sometimes even there are cracks on walls and proper maintenance is required.Mess is also looked over by a student's representative and changes are easily incorporated though there is variety of food made by nothing tastes like home.
IIT bomaby is fully residential campus. Hostel facilities are good enough to stay. Every PhD student is allotted a single room. Rooms are a bit small. But no worries. One has to pay mess fees compulsory to retain the hotel room. These mess fees are 15 K per semester including some deposited which are refunded at the end of semester subjected to your extra expenditure in the mess menus. Mess facilities are very economical (subjected to subsidies from government ) and very hygienic in class.
Hostel fee: Rs. 15000 per semester ( This was included in the 2 lpa mentioned above), Mess Fee: Rs. 15000 per semester. Better than most College Messes, excluding some extremely expensive private colleges. A variety of food is served including bread butter and eggs for all breakfasts and snack.
Hostels rooms are very small and even we need to share those rooms for 3 year with 1 person. Rooms and hostels are very old infrastructure rest culture and facilities are best. There is gym, pool table, music room, computer room and all facilities.
Hostel facility is good there are 18 hostels. 14 for boys and 4 for girls. The rooms are in good condition. Rooms were cleaned regularly and atmosphere is also good each hostel has its own mess. mess have food a food times. breakfast lunch tiffin and dinner. They give you so much food that some times you cann't eat full mess have mess secretary among the student who ensure that the quality of food is good you can complain to him.
The hostel facilities and mess food is quite good to me but people feel that the food is horrible now that depend from people to people a lake side view hostel is certainly what u will not get anywhere in Mumbai for such a law cos of living which the institute makes it possible for a student.
There are around 16 hostel in the campus with few being the very new and state of the art structures. All the students stay in the hostel which are in the campus. 2 student share the room and final year student gets a single room. Mess food are decent enough to eat and there are plenty of caters available in the campus where you can have good food.
