Those who carry interest in biological research, Biotechnology is the best course to pursue since it comprises broad spectrum subjects in its curriculum. Thus, one has many options to change their path for the post graduation studies. Also, PAU provides a BTech degree which is an edge. Here, faculty student ratio is 1:25 and the faculty is well educated researchers with high competency in their field. Professors teaches students in the form of ppt, videos, handwritten notes and sometimes, combining the lectures with the practical experience in the lab or field. Here, exams are conducted per semester in the three slots comprising first hourly, mid terms and final exams. First two slots comprises internal assessment in the form of short 1 hour exams whereas finals come from different Agricultural University whose duration is around 3 hours. It's easy to score marks in the internal exams as the finals can be unpredictable.

Being a government university, the fee structure is very expensive, especially for biotechnology and foodtechnology . It becomes quite difficult for middle class parents to pay the fees for a four year or 5 year programme.
We have a defined topics course content for each course. In which the recommended books are also mentioned.I think the course content should be more elaborative and detailed so that it becomes easy for the students to know in how much detail to study. Exam structure- we have about for exams in 1 sem of 4-5 months. Each exam carry some weightage in the final result. So i think it's a good idea for encouraging the students to study but sometimes it becomes hectic as there are no holidays during examination.

The course syllabus was not at all updated. Even teachers were not sure about what they should be teaching. There was no industrial exposure at all. In third year we were told that we will have an industrial training and it never happened. There were many passionate teachers like Dr. Dharminder Bhatia of plant breeding, Dr. Darshan Singh Brar and there were also teachers who were not at all interested in teaching but were doing it because of the pressure of the higher authorities.
