I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University was established in 1977 as Punjab Technical University., and was later renamed in 2015 in the honour of Sh. Inder Kumar Gujral, former Prime Minister of India. It offers courses in Technology, Management, Pharmaceutical, and more from various disciplines.

The University has 121 AICTE and 65 UGC Institutes affiliated with it. Stretching over 78.16 acres of land, it owns more than 10 campuses throughout the state of Punjab. The overall NIRF ranking is 3rd in State, 33rd in research, and 54th among top 100 Universities of India. Admissions are offered based on, both, merit and entrance exam scores. The average offered salary package is INR 4.3 LPA, whereas the highest offered salary package was INR 12 LPA in 2020 placements.

Admissions at IK Gujral Punjab Technical University is based on both merits and entrance exam scores. Candidates are required to score minimum marks in the qualifying examination to get admission to the desired course.

How to apply?

Candidates can collect Admission Form/Prospectus, Brochure and University magazine from Administrative office by paying the application fee only by Demand Draft in favour of “I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University” payable at Jalandhar.
Fill the admission form in all respect
In case of any difficulty, candidates should contact the Admission Center In-charge.
Candidates should get his/her duly filled Admission Form examined at Admission Cell/Admission Data Entry Center.
Submit the Admission Form along with all original documents and payment slip in the Administrative Office/Admission Data Entry Center.
After completing all the process, candidates have to collect the Confirmation letter from Admission In-Charge.

Punjab Technical University Freeship Schemes

The free ship scheme is implemented for the students of IKGPTU Main Campus and Constituent Campuses for the session 2020-21.

For the benefit of Parent Less student (PLS), Father Less Student (FLS), Special Abled Student (SAS) and Low Income Group Students (UGS).
A sum of rupees one crore shall be kept reserved for this scheme. The students of Punjab shall be given preference under this scheme.

The preference for giving benefit shall be in the following order:

Parent Less student (PLS),

Father Less student (FLS),

Special Abled student (SAS),

Low-Income GrouP Students (LIGS)

Note: The annual income of the family of a student applying for the scholarship should be less than INR 2.5 lakh.

Punjab Technical University Distance Learning

Punjab Technical University DDE offers UG and PG courses such as BBA, B.Sc, B.Com, BA, M.Com, and M.Sc. PTU DDE admissions to various courses are based on merits obtained in the qualifying examination. The minimum eligibility required for admission 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 in the previous qualifying examination.

Punjab Technical University Facilities

The University offers the following facilities to cater to the needs of the students as well as faculty members:

Central Library: The three floored library is inter connected, centrally air conditioned, with a seating capacity of more than 500 readers at a time and is well connected and easily approachable from all the departments of the university. The library’s independent building is also near completion and by the year 2017 the library would shift into its independent building.

Computer Centre: The University has a well-equipped, fully air-conditioned Computer Laboratory with leased line Internet facility, Wi-Fi campus, and convenient printing and scanning resources.

Auditorium: The University has two well equipped air-conditioned seminar halls fitted with multimedia projectors and audio-visual systems, having a seating capacity of 150 and 100. A University auditorium with seating capacity of 800 is under construction.

Hostel Accommodation: The University provides accommodation to students studying in different departments at the university campus. Residences (Boys’ Hostel, Girls’ Hostel 01 & Girls’ Hostel 02) located at its main campus are within walking distance from the academic wing. There are 76 rooms in each Girl’s hostel having intake capacity of 94 students and there are 144 rooms in Boy’s hostel having intake capacity of 288 students. The accommodation offered single seater and double seater rooms.

Transportation Facility: A fleet of buses is available for the convenience of students. University bus routes for students are from Beas, Jalandhar Cantt., Kartarpur, Kishanpura Chowk, and more.

Sports Facilities: The Sports Department organises the annual activities under the guidance of the sports council of the University. In an academic session, I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University organizes various sports activities on the campus. The University also participates in different Inter-Varsity games. Sports facilities available are Basketball Court, Indoor Games, Volleyball Court.

Cafeteria: In order to provide healthy and affordable food to the students, University has a hygienic cafeteria on the campus, serving a broad selection of items of varied taste and dietary restriction.

Publication Bureau: The Publication Bureau was established to make available quality books for higher education at a low cost and to inculcate a habit of reading among the students. The Publication Bureau is engaged in publication of translated books in Science and Engineering. It was established primarily for the development and enrichment of Punjabi language. However, over a period of time, the University started contributing significantly in other disciplines also.

Corporate Relations & Alumni Office: It is the nodal point of contact for companies seeking students from IKG PTU campuses and its affiliated colleges for training and placement. CR&A office organises Joint Campus Placement Drive(s) of various MNCs at University Campus and its affiliated colleges.

Anti-Ragging: The University Grants Commission vide its letter no F.1-16/2007 (CPP-II) dated June 17, 2009 has reiterated the ban on ragging of students in Institutions of Higher Learning. The students are therefore directed to strictly desist from any kind of ragging.
