Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) is a Private University located in East Sikkim, Sikkim and was established in the year 1992. The University is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). SMU is also accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI).

Sikkim Manipal University Distance Education offers various Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, M.Phil. and Ph.D. courses through SMIT and SMIMS. Admissions to Sikkim Manipal University Courses will be done on the basis of Entrance Exams conducted by SMU while for most of them, scores obtained in external Entrance Exams will be considered.

SMU M.Phil and Ph.D. Course

Sikkim Manipal University offers three-year full-time M.Phil. program to candidates having Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field with at least 55% marks in aggregate whereas, for admission to three-year full-time Ph.D. research course, candidates should hold a Master’s degree/ M.Phil. in relevant field with minimum 55% marks in aggregate. Final selection of candidates is done on the basis of:

Entrance Test followed by Personal Interview conducted by SMU.
UGC (NET)/ CSIR (JRF) Examination (for Ph.D.)
SLET/ GATE/ Teacher Fellowship holders (for Ph.D.).
Direct award of Fellowship by DST (INSPIRE), ICMR or any such national agency (Ph.D.).
Any other equivalent test.

About the admission process, I want to share that it has a simple procedure to fill online, we no need to go to the college but by submitting the documents online, then the fees paid to the college all communication were done via mail. And the admission starts in April and the consultant can communicate through the mail. I prefer this college as one of my friends has passed out of college and he told me about the college. As the university has a strong school of sciences, and I wanted to study under the best minds in the country. I chose to go to a large university because I wanted to maximize my post-college opportunities while still in school. We have a vast alumni network, and this helped me land a great summer internship. I searched through the website named "Collegedunia", this site has a huge amount of data for each school and college. This is a helpful resource for comparing colleges side by side based on data. We can go through the website and an easy way to compare.

The faculty of this college is good and also the infrastructure and the facilities are good. Anti-ragging college. Previous academic was good, good hostel facilities, environmentally friendly, admission through the gate, state quota and the college entrance exam.

Near to my hometown, reputed and recognised college. Things that I like about the college is it's facilities for students such as 24hour electricity and wifi in the hostel, hot water facility. Most important safe and strict rules for both girls and boys. Other facilities like swimming, tennis, basket ball, gym, etc are available for the students.
