The course curriculum is super and all subject is there as per the course and college professors are also available. All-day classes will be going nicely. There is in my class 28 students and because this is a new course that's why student strength is less but in future, it is growing day by day.
In even sem you have to submit 1lakh 25 thousand and in odd sem 1 lakh 75 thousand rupees scholarship is been given to top 32 student. If you study well you will definitely get campus placement.
Through this course you can be Navigating Officer. 2:60 is the subject faculty to student ratio. All the faculty is mostly Captain or Chief Engineer. It's not that difficult to pass regular 2 hours of self study is enough to score good marks.
The course curriculum of marine engineering is very varied and most of it was covered to my satisfaction with hands on experience on the various workshops. Academics along with co curriculur activities are given a lot of priority here. The faculty is mostly retired or current seafarers from various parts of the globe so their experience and skills are top notch
I am currently pursuing BTech in Marine Engineering from the college it includes both mechanical and electrical study. The curriculum can be used for an all round development to successfully produce Marine engineer. we learn about compressors, engines, ship building. the curriculum focus more on the mechanical engineering part. This is a 4 year course and we go through eight semesters. The syllabus is regularly updated on the direction given by DG shipping INDIA. Most of the faculties working here are the pass outs of this very own college and have sailed for years, most of them have held important position like Surveyor and Head at Indian registrar of shipping. The college also exchanges professor and Associate processes with colleges like Jadhav University ad they act as guest faculty over here at Indian Maritime university Kolkata campus. i have had the opportunity of interacting with Dr SK Sinha, Dr K Mitra who have held important position in the Indian Maritime Board.
The syllabus is very well made by the teaching authority. All the necessary theory and practical subjects are thoroughly mixed. The syllabus is not very huge for each semester. The curriculum is based on all the knowlegde needed while sailing on a ship.
Course curriculum is streamlined to marine field. It has topics related to mechanical and electrical fields. Faculties here are the experienced ones. Most of them are from maritime sector and are a passout of this college.
The Course Curriculum is well balanced for steady and effective learning with the best training provided for staying onboard, shaping the best marine engineers. Scholarship up to 1 lakh are provided on each semester result to the best 60 cadets. The faculties are also well experienced.
IMU has around 30 colleges under it's affiliation,5 government colleges and rest private.so the course syllabus is updated. This question can be best understood with the fact that most workforce are in India aregetting their degree from IMU only. I think this should clear all the doubts regarding course curriculum and syllabus part. Now coming to my college, Industrial exposure was a major missing in my course duration. We were taken for ship visit 2 times a year. Also Stimulator which is essential in maritime training was installed in last year only. So my college is slow runner with updating the student with Industries and new technologies in maritime training.
Fee Structure is expensive 100000 rs for each semester and 25000 in odd semesters We have to pay additional fee for exams and all .We can pay the fee through banks ,NetBanking etc . They didn't provide any transparency in the fee breakdown But every central government engineering colleges have like fees
This is a 4 year course having 8 semesters ,if we got arrear we should pass the next in the next chance otherwise we will get year back, faculty is not much good in our campus ,though Naval archi is the only course there is only 250+ students ,so that we can't get a college vibe
