There are different category of hostels. Air conditioned room with attached bathroom(1,54,000). Non A/C with attached bathroom(56,500). Non A/C with common bathroom(44,500). If you want a hostel with the 1st or 2nd category, then you don't have much of a choice, because there are only one block each providing those facilities. For the 3rd category, there are few blocks. Mostly in first year the students stay in I or J block. Preferably on the upper floors because due to the height, nice wind blows. So first see which category of hostel you want to stay in. There is not much to do in maintainence part, they are quick to solve any electrical or hardware issue mostly within a day. However, ...
Best for the price range. U can't expect more for the price. Vast variety of hostels are available. Like from international hostels (one per room) to feasible (8per room) international hostel of one per room is 4.5 lacs per year and feasible non AC non attached 3sharing room is 98k per year. (Both are inclusive of mess, laundry)
The canteen food is awesome but the hostel food is just horrible except for some days. This is more to do with students coming in from all walks of life and different parts of India, but having to adjust with predominantly South-Indian food. The quality of the food is good, it's just that students are kind-of fed up eating the same food over and over again. And most of the students admitted in SRM belong to a wealthy family, so they have a real hard-time compromising with the food offered.
The hostel donot provide ac for the students who pay normal fees as 1 lakh . But ac is provided to some student who are ready to pay more 1 lakh rupees . Other all requirments are normal. overall i donot suggest to live in hostel there are different appartments which provide far better facility than hostel in lesser or same amount
Bad very bad . Once we got fucking worms out of the milk and food milk worms out of milk it was dam gross . Even the kitchen is very dirty you can see rats running around here and there . It is dam depressing that is when I decided to move out of hostel
Hostel facilities are quite good. I would rate hostel rooms 8/10, hostel bathroom 5/10 although they are clean but you have to deal with mosquitoes. And now comes the mess, so personally I would rate mess 7/10 on some days and 3/10 on other, because it depends on the menu which they are preparing.
Hostel facilities are a little bit strict and there are 2 warden per hostel and around 16 hostel for boys and 22 for girls and more are under construction. There are 3 and 4 sharing room hostels and AC and Non AC hostels and attached bathroom and non attached bathroom ones. Mess food is good on some days and not that much good on some days mess is different for South Indian and North Indian food you can go to any of them and breakfast is good and lunch is sometimes not good evening snacks are there whose quantity is fixed and dinner is also ok and non veg is provided on 3-4 days. PG's are there near campus and are good and well maintained most of the students shift in PG from 2nd year on...
Hostel facilities are okayish. AC rooms are way overpriced and are given on first come first serve basis. Almost 100k more has to be given for a AC room. AC should be placed in every room and should be charged according to electricity usage. Hostel comes in Normal and international categories. 1st year have to live in 3 or 4 sharing whereas 2nd year onward they have to live in 3 sharing rooms. Mess food is awfully bad and no one wants to eat. But since the hostel is opting mess food payment is compulsory.(not at all happy)
The hostel facilities and mess facilities were good too. Both south and north Indian food were available. The room which I stayed was of 3 sharing and the rent was 84000/- per annum. Both hot and cold drinking water facility was there. proper maintenance was also there.
