Apart from the lack of placement facilities, Presidency University is one of the best choices for students who want to pursue higher education in terms of quality and feasibility.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fee is very less which allows students from different economic backgrounds to pursue their dream of higher education in this university. There is an admission of rs. 3300 and then rs.1100 per semester. To sum, the whole course is costing only rs. 8800.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
For scholarship, notifications shall be given by the authorities according to which students have to apply. The students have to maintain a grade point of a minimum of 7.5.
College Events :
The university organises a fest called 'Milieu' every year in which students of different departments and universities participate and showcase their talents and skills, technical and cultural. Apart from the fest, a Fresher's week is organised in which the new students are given a chance to showcase their talents like dancing, singing, painting, sports and so on.
Campus Life :
As I mentioned in the ibid question, the fee structure is very reasonable which allows students from different economic backgrounds to pursue their education in this place. Consequently, the degree of tolerance for diverse ethnicity, race, religion, culture, gender, sexual orientation and political opinions is really very high in this university.
The Presidency University's alumni network is one of the best in India. In fact, much of the university's funds come from the donations of its alumni network only.
There are 10-14 teachers in the faculty with having an average age of 30-35. There are only 2 senior teachers in the department, the HOD and the Dean of Arts. Most of them have completed their doctoral thesis and often go to foreign universities for presenting their papers.
The university entertains applications for two courses. I had applied for History and Political Science. Although I topped the entrance exam for History, ultimately I opted for Political Science as it is one of the best departments in the university. To be honest, the university is more suitable for those students who want to stick to academics only.
Placement Experience :
As I mentioned earlier, the only limitation of this department is the lack of placement facilities.
Course Curriculum Overview :
There are 20 papers divided across 6 semesters. In the first 4 semesters, there are gen.ed courses apart from the honours course in which students of humanities are supposed to take at least two science subjects and vice-versa for the science students. There are 2 practical papers each in the last two semesters which teaches students how to write an academic paper, conduct surveys, how to present a paper and so on.
Ques. Is there any sort of ragging in Presidency University Kolkata?
● Top Answer By Sonabh Sood on 19 Jul 21
Ans.My brother studies at Presidency University and as a PG student, he can vouch that ragging is prohibited inside the campus. Added to this are policies against casteism, sexism, racism, and other violations against humanity and dignity. The campus is very liberal and you won't find students with judgemental or offensive thoughts.
Presidency even has several student bodies like PUCASH for the address of complaints related to sexual harassment. There is a UGC prescribed anti-ragging cell as well which is quite active. The students there are more intellectually oriented and do not perform petty actions.
Presidency University will help you to grow and advance your potential through competitions, workshops, and even the fears here with unlimited opportunities to flourish and showcase your creative and theatrical skills. Read more
Ques. Should I choose NIT Rourkela for an Integrated Msc in Physics or a Bsc in Physics at St. Stephen’s Delhi, St. Xavier’s or Presidency University Kolkata?
● Top Answer By Ruchi Singh on 13 Jul 21
Ans.All the newly established colleges are doing as well too as the older established colleges. So, choosing any among NIT Rourkela, St. Stephen’s Delhi, St. Xavier’s, or Presidency University Kolkata would be a boon for you.
But, it is suggested that you go to St Stephen’s College Delhi. One of my friends studied there and according to him, it was really good.
The crowd in the national capital is really good.
The faculty of the department is well qualified and highly reputed.
One recommendation letter from a professor here could land you in a nice university abroad, for your future endeavors.
You can also apply for scholarships and each worthy student has the opportunity of getting a number of awards.
The campus so far is well maintained and only around 1200 students are present in the college. Lesser people compared to other Delhi University colleges.
Furthermore, there are multiple societies and you get a lot of time to do studies and have a platform for various extracurricular activities.
Though Integrated M.Sc according to me is not a very suitable option as you will be fixed to one place for a long 5 years but again your plans may change once to get more exposure and get to know other opportunities available to you. So think wisely before settling down.Read more

Ques. Can I take admission to Presidency University, Kolkata (through PUBDET) if I get admitted under Calcutta University in the first year?
● Top Answer By Sreemona Mondal on 28 Jun 21
Ans.You certainly can. If the registration process is completed by you already, make sure you take your TC and mark sheet from there. Your mark sheet should have an "admission canceled" stamp to it otherwise it would not be approved. You may also be required to write a letter sent to the authorities. It will cost you a sum of ?1000-1500 which would have to be deposited as a TC fee.
In case you have missed your registration, make sure you get in touch with the staff of the office. They will help you get your admission canceled.
Although this is a rare situation, in case you are lucky, they may give back your admission fee too.Read more
