Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), is a state university which provides degrees in engineering, management and other professional courses through its various affiliate institutions and departments. It was formerly known as West Bengal University (WBU) and was founded in 2001. It has achieved excellence in its endeavours and has been ranked 157th among the engineering colleges in the NIRF rank of 2020 surpassing its previous 165th rank in 2019. And is also awarded as B+ Grade by NAAC. The state university has also launched new certification and diploma courses on archaeology and also has the partnership with Coursera.

MAKAUT Kolkata Admission

Admissions in the university is done through various online and offline modes of entrance exams conducted by the university. Candidates must clear CET for B.Sc., and BCA and PGET entrance exam for admission to M.Sc. course. Admission to B.Tech. course takes place through state level WBJEE entrance exam. For admission to MBA, students need to sit for the JEMAT entrance exam.

Application Procedure:

  • Students can fill the application form online for admission by visiting the official website at https://makautwb.ac.in/.
  • Fill and attach the scan copies of the needed documents as and when necessary. 
  • Pay the application fee. This fee is INR 800 for unreserved candidates and INR 400/- for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PH.
  • Clear the entrance followed by the counselling and interview and GD as mandated by the university. 
  • Admission to the various courses is based on the final merit list published by the university.
