IIM Nagpur has started the Doctoral Programme from the academic year 2021-22. The program duration is 4-years. Candidates are shortlisted based on their submitted applications and CAT/ GMAT exam score. The shortlisted candidates are further called for an interview with an area-led and program-led panel. After the Interview round, candidates are finally selected for admissions based on their performance in PI.

The admission process at IIM Nagpur for the batch of 2021-25 is going to be administered over various stages. The details are mentioned in the following sections:
Stage 1: Candidates need to fill an in-depth application form within a stipulated date. Candidates who apply for the PhD admissions process at IIM Nagpur are going to be first screened for eligibility.
Stage 2: Only those candidates who complete the application form and meet the eligibility criteria are going to be considered to shortlist for PIs. This shortlist is going to be released and sent to all the applicants by email.
Stage 3: Candidates who are shortlisted at Stage 2 can proceed to Stage 3. All the shortlisted candidates in Stage 2 need to attend two personal interviews (PI), the primary with an area-led panel and another with the program-led panel. In case a candidate has applied for 2 areas of specialization, he/ she has to attend an interview for every area and then a program-led panel interview. The candidates will be evaluated based on the following factors:
Stage 4: Candidates who appear for the PI are going to be considered for this stage. Admission offers will be sent to the successful candidates by email.
The selected candidates will receive an admission offer by email from IIM Nagpur. The candidate has got to deposit a commitment fee of INR 50,000 to confirm the acceptance of the offer. An amount of INR 20,000 is going to be refunded after two years of completion of the program by the candidate. The remaining INR 30,000 will be refunded after the completion of the doctoral program. Candidates selected for admission are required to attend an introductory course, which is expected to be scheduled from June 2021.

Various types of financial support is provided by IIM Nagpur for PhD students welfare.
Stipend: Participants will get the following monthly stipend during the duration of the program:
Start-up Grant: A one-time startup grant ( year 1) of INR 1,00,000 will be provided to meet expenses on purchasing hardware, software, etc.
Contingency Allowance: A contingency allowance of INR 25,000 per year (for second to fourth years) to cover research expenses, expenses on books, photocopying, etc., will also be available to all the Ph.D. students.
Conference Funding: The institute will fund the conference expenses on a reimbursement basis for attending one international and three domestic conferences prescribed by their area.
A sum of up to INR 1,50,000 and INR 20,000 per conference paper will be granted for meeting expenses related to attending international and national conferences, respectively.
