The Boston University is highly selective while granting admissions to students with an acceptance rate of 25%, i.e., of 100 applications only 25 are accepted. Applications for regular admissions can be made until January 6, while the application deadline for early decision is November 1.

In view of very high competition involved in regular admission (1 over 64,000 applicants), Boston encourages students to apply for early decision (1 over 4,000 applicants). For the upcoming batch of 2023, rise of 11% and 13% has been witnessed in Early Decision and Early Decision II applications, respectively.

The Early decision applicants need to take care of following things:

  • For Early Decision, it is recommended to take the ACT within the month of October/the SAT before November
  • For Early Decision II, it is recommended to take the ACT/SAT within December.
  • Students applying for Early Decision are advised to take the TOEFL/IELTS within November 15 or by December end for Early Decision II.
  • The applications not accepted for Early Decision can be considered for Regular admission only if the applicant submits the mid-year results.

Boston University Language Requirements

International students are required to demonstrate English language proficiency with the aid of any one of the test mentioned below:

Boston offers a plethora of graduate programs to choose from. The applications are primarily accepted in the months of September, January and May.

Boston University BS/MD Requirements

  • Boston offers admission to only those applicants who demonstrate potential to serve peopel in addition to academic excellence.
  • The International students completeing their Bachelor’s degree from any US or Canadian University are only eligible to apply for a graduate program in Medicine.
  • Otherwise, they are required to complete at least 2 years of US/Canadian-recognised University along with all the prerequisite courses.

Application Portal: Theapplication process takes place in several stages:

Stage I: Applicants are required to apply via American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS).

Stage II: AMCAS notifies Boston University School of Medicine about student’s intererst in applying at BU. Subsequently, BU initiates the secondary application process by inviting the students to fill a supplemental application form.

Students must note that no transfer applications are accepted by BU.
Application Fee: The processing fee is 170 USD and additionally 39 USD is required for medical school designations.

Prerequisite Course Requirements: English Composition/Literature/any writing intesnve course (1 year), Humanities (1 year), Biological Sciences + Lab exerience (intro/advanced; 1 year), Physics (intro/advanced; 1 year), Chemistry sequences (Lab experience + Organis Chemistry + Biochemistry).

Academic Requirements: It is essential for all the applicants to take up the MCAT Test in the spring season of the application year and also complete the prerequisite courses by the time they are applying. Please take care that the MCAT scores are not older than 4 years.

Supporting Documents: All the applicants are required to submit the letter of recommendation obtained from the Health Professions Advisory Commitee.

Boston University Questrom School of Business Requirements

Application Portal: Applicants need to fill the online application form available on the official website.

Application Fee: 125 USD

Academic Requirements: Boston accepts GRE/GMAT and TOEFL/IELTS/PTE score for granting admission in MBA program. The scores are valid only if they are not older than 5 years.

Supporting Documents: Resume, 3 video essays/1 written essay,2 letters of recommendation, academic transcripts.

Interview: The Boston University evaluates the applicants based on an interview. The applicants may appear for the interview prior to the application process , i.e., before the 1st deadline in October.

Alternatively, the university offers provision of an invitation-only interview that is condcuted after the submission of application.

Boston University LLM Requirements

The Law School critically reviews the applications on the receival of the essential documents. The promising candidates are selected and called for interview.

Application Portal: Onlineapplications are accepted through LSAC.

Application fee: 85 USD

Academic Requirements: It is mandatory for all the students to send the IELTS/TOEFL Scores to demonstrate proficiency in English for participating actively in the classroom discussions.

Supporting documents: Academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, personal statement and curriculum vitae.

Interview: The promising applicants are called for either telephonic or Skype interview with the Director/Assisstant Director for obtaining information about their interest and career goals.

Work Experience: It is beneficial if candidates have relevant work experience, however, it is not mandatory for gaining admission.

Transfer Student Admission Requirements

How to apply: The applicants need to apply via 'Common Application'.

Application fee: 75 USD

Academic Requirements: ACT/SAT scores are not required for transfer applications. However, the applicants need to demonstrate proficiency in English by scoring minimum 7.0 in IELTS or 90–100 in TOEFL.
