VISA & Work Study

To study in the U.S. students will need to apply for a visa at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate. The visa will be stamped in their passport and include information such as their name, date of birth, gender, citizenship, passport number, etc. Most international students come to the U.S. on F-1 visas. However, there are some other visa categories that permit studying (e.g., J-1, H-1B, H-4, L-2, E-2, etc.), so some of the students may have a different type of visa. Usually, this is because students, their spouse or their parents are working in the U.S.

Work Study

International students are allowed to work a maximum of 20 hours per week when classes are in session, with additional hours permitted during semester breaks. International students are advised to work 20 hours or less per week during short breaks (i.e., fall and spring breaks) and holidays because of the risk of miscalculating hours worked and exceeding the allowed limit.

Career and Placement after Course

Students get professional advice for writing their resume, interviewing, finding a job and so much more at the popular skill shops. In the university there are types of opportunities:

  • On-campus interviews
  • Off-campus interviews (Submit résumés through BizLink and system forwards them to the company)
  • Full-time, part-time and internship openings
  • Employer information sessions
