UVA is close to my home but not too close, also this was a very financially viable option for me due to in-state tuition. Additionally, many of my friends are also going to attend the same University so I knew I would have friends.
It is nice because there aren't that many requirements that are very stringent. I have the freedom to choose what classes I want to take and based on what I am interested in. However, I have to take two writing courses even though I have so credit.
UVA offered me the feel of a southern school with the academics of a smart university. It is not too big but has everything you could need. People care about classes here so you are never going to be stuck in a class with apathetic peers.
I like the course curriculum at UVA especially because Echols Scholars have the ability to take only the classes we want. There are very few requirements for Echols Scholars which gives us the freedom to take interesting classes.
