Chicago Theological Seminary (CTS) was founded in 1855. The seminary is affiliated with United Church of Christ. It is accredited to Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools. The seminary only offers graduate degrees.

CTS houses diverse centers such as Center for the Study of Black Faith and Life, Center for Jewish, Christian, & Islamic Studies, Center for the Study of Korean Christianity, and LGBTQ Religious Studies Center. These centers provide interreligious engagement, gender justice and other commitments.

Chicago Theological Seminary Program and Residence

  • CTS provides 7 degree programs. Distance learning and certificate programs are also offered by the seminary. International students can also opt for courses at the University of Chicago Divinity School.
  • CTS does not have its own residence hall. International students can rent residence hall with University of Chicago graduate residences. Studio, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom apartments are available for single students and students with family.

Chicago theological Seminary Financial Aid

  • The seminary offers international students with need and merit based scholarships. Full Tuition Scholarships include Gilberto Castañeda LGBTQ Scholarship (substantial scholarship for students of LGBTQIA), Ruth Frost Parker Scholarship Fund (scholarship for a female student), etc.
  • Merit-based Scholarships offered to international students range from 50% to 100% waiver off the cost of tuition. Need based Grants is awarded on a yearly basis. These can be re-applied for consecutive years.
