Stonehill College received almost 7000 applications out of which it admitted approximately 4700 students in the batch of 2023. An acceptance rate of about 67% was recorded for 2019 admissions. It is a test-optional that implies scores of standardized tests such as SAT/ACT are not mandatory but these scores are evaluated for admission. Only the highest scores of the applicants will be reviewed and must be submitted before the application deadline.

Stonehill offers students 49 majors and 54 minors programs in humanities, natural and social sciences, business, education, and pre-professional courses.

The early decision deadlines are binding which means students chosen for admission must enroll. Stonehill College International Student Admissions

Stonehill College accepts applications from international students provided they have completed high school for applying to undergraduate programs and college to apply for graduate programs. Applicants will be considered for admission if they complete the application by submitting all necessary documents within the deadlines.

The international students willing to study in the US may have to fulfill additional requirements as compared to domestic applicants.

Admission Requirements: A list of requirements needs to be fulfilled for applying to Stonehill College:

  • Completed Common Application form using the college’s online application system.
  • Answer questions and essays are asked to seek more information from the applicants. Questions such as the reason for selecting the Stonehill College must be answered in 250 words.
  • Students for the Moreau Honors Program are selected based on the academic and extracurricular experiences and qualities that applicants demonstrate through their honors application essay within 600 words.
  • Official high school transcripts showing cumulative GPA and class rank must be submitted by the counselor of the applicant.
  • Secondary School Report is essentially required because international students apply for different parts of the world. This report must be completed by the counselor of the student answering questions related to the opportunities given in the class, size of the class, and method for calculation of GPA. A recommendation letter must also be attached by the counselor.
  • Teacher evaluations are a form that is completed by the applicant’s teacher to get information about the students’ intellect, creativity, team spirit, confidence, and related skills from a different perspective.
  • The applicant’s counselor will be responsible to submit a midyear report of class 12 and updated high school transcript showing the progress of the student.
  • Final report of class 12 results will also be required when available.
  • Proof of English proficiency
  • SAT/ ACT scores are not mandatory as Stonehill College is test-optional. However, it will be reviewed for admission.
  • International Student Certification of Finances can be demonstrated through bank statements and affidavit of support. This is also required for applying to get a student visa.
  • Supplemental forms such as early decision agreement form need to be submitted, if necessary.

Optional Requirements: Writing samples, essays, recommendation letters, and other documents that will increase the credibility of the application can be submitted.

The submission of documents by the counselor can be done online or by post. A cover letter must be attached to the email or fax stating that the documents are sent from the high school and not the applicant personally. The documents can be submitted individually as and when they become available but it must contain the full name and date of birth of the applicant so that it is put in the correct file.

English Proficiency Test Score for International Students

International students applying to Stonehill College must submit scores of TOEFL/IELTS to demonstrate English proficiency. The minimum scores required for applying are:

The requirement to submit English proficiency test scores is waived off for students who have SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score 600 or above and ACT English and Reading score 25 or above.

Visa Process for International Students

 International students who wish to study in the U.S. require an F-1 student visa or a student visa to study in the US. To apply for a visa, students should pay the I-901 SEVIS fee and then visit the U.S. embassy or consulate to apply for the student visa. The first step towards applying for a visa is to complete the non-immigrant visa Form DS-160. Following this, students must schedule an interview at the U.S embassy or consulate and appear for the interview.

Important documents required to be submitted while applying for a visa are as follows:

  • A passport which must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the period of staying in the U.S.
  • Confirmation page of nonimmigrant visa application form DS-160
  • Receipt of payment of application fee
  • Passport size photographs of the applicant
  • Form I-20 which is issued by the college
  • Additional documents such as transcripts, diploma, certificates, test scores, financial information, etc.

Stonehill College Undergraduate Admissions

Undergraduate applicants applying for admission to Stonehill College are expected to meet the general requirements of the college preparatory program. The suggested high school curriculum must include 4 units of English, 4 units of mathematics, 3 units of science, 3 units of foreign language, 4 units of history, political science and social science, and 2 elective subjects. On average, previously admitted students display 3.32 GPA on 4.0.

Stonehill College Graduate Admissions

Interested graduate applicants must complete the online application form and fulfill the program-specific requirements. In addition to the requirements given in the following table, there are prerequisites for applying. Applicants for the Inclusive education program must have completed a course in child development with grade B or above. While applicants for the data analytics program must complete a course in statistics. Also, all transcripts submitted by any applicant must have a course by course evaluation from either the World Education Services (WES) or Center for Educational Documentation (CED).

(1) The personal statement should be written within 3-5 pages in a 12 point format describing professional goals, how the program will help in achieving it, work experience, personal or professional experience that influenced the choice of the program, and any information that will be helpful for the admission committee.
