Originally known as Indiana Asbury University, DePauw University is a private liberal arts college in Indiana, USA. The University accepts students from varied cultural backgrounds and because of which it has almost 21% of multicultural enrolment. Students from 42 states and 32 countries apply every year.

DePauw University offers undergraduate programs to students which include degrees such as Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music through the College of Liberal Arts and School of Music.

A few of the popular programs in the College of Liberal Arts include Art and Art history, Asian studies, Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Classical studies, Communication and Theatre, Computer science, Economics and Management, etc.

A few of the popular programs in the School of Music include Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education, Bachelor of Musical Arts, Five-year double degree, Bachelor of Arts with a major in Music, and Music Minors. 

DePauw University Campus and Housing/ Residence Facilities

The DePauw University campus comprises 695 acres campus and 36 iconic buildings are located in the historic town of Greencastle, Indiana. 

All the students at DePauw live on-campus in a wide range of housing options, including first-year residence halls, Greek-affiliated houses and upper-class housing for sophomores, juniors and seniors. 

The housing options are quite varied in number and students can get access to upper housing as and when they pass each academic year.

First-year Residence Community: There are five residence halls for first-year students. Each hall is different from another in its way. They are:

  • Bishop Roberts Hall- The hall has a capacity of 140 students in total and offers double rooms on flour floors each.
  • College Street Hall- The hall has a capacity of 50 students and offers double rooms on two floors with all the basic amenities.
  • Hogate Hall- The hall holds a capacity of 140 students having double and single rooms on three floors.
  • Humbert Hall- The hall has a capacity of 130 students. It has a common area on the first floor along with every basic need.
  • Longden Hall- A 100 students capacity hall having double and triple rooms.

Upper-class Communities for Juniors and Seniors: The upper-class residence halls include Senior Hall and Anderson Street Hall that have single and double rooms along with spacious common areas, Rector Village with seven small, suite-style residence halls for four to eight upper-class students each and Apartments, Houses & Duplexes with a capacity ranging from two to ten people. 

DePauw University Application Process

Application: Students can apply for admissions at DePauw University online either through Common Application or through DePauw Application.

Application Deadline:

  • Early Decision I Deadline – November 15
  • Early Action Deadline – December 1

  • Regular Decision Deadline – February 1

Scholarships and Financial Aid

DePauw University works with the students and their families to make sure that they get the education at their pocket-friendly amount. The university helps the student to get the best combination of need and merit-based financial aid to make them earn the qualifying amount.

Students can also apply for various outside international scholarships or education loans to finance their education in the USA. 

Upon acceptance to the university, all international students are considered for merit-based scholarships which are based primarily on academic competitiveness including grades in school, SATs, TOEFL/IELTS, course work, etc. as well as the need, strength of overall application, community service work, activities, etc. 

Some of the merit-based scholarships offered at DePauw University are: 

  • Academic merit-based Scholarship- This scholarship is awarded at the time of admission after reviewing the past performance and test scores. No document is required besides the basic application procedure.
  • Rector Scholar Awards- This is the most eminent and oldest scholarship of all. It is awarded to the top Five percent highly excellent students in academics.
  • Music Performance Awards- This is awarded to those candidates who possess a major in music and appear for an audition for the music faculty.
  • Achievement Based Scholarship- This scholarship recognizes a student’s small day to day achievements. It is in partnership with raise.me.
  • Prindle Institute Ethics Scholarship- It is awarded to those who portray an attitude of thinking strongly about ethics and critical issues.
