Hiram College is a coeducational liberal arts college. Founded in the year 1850 as a preparatory institution in the name Western Reserve Eclectic Institute. The College has around 1100 students studying there.

Programs

  • The College offers 29 majors and 38 minors, dual degree options, and many pre-professional concentrations.
  • The majors and minors are in the fields of accounting, computer science, Art and Design, Asian Studies, Biochemistry, Biology, Communication, Marketing, Film Studies, Mathematics, Photography, Physics, Sociology, etc.
  • There are five schools under which Hiram College offers programs. They are:
    • School of Arts, Humanities and Culture.
    • Scarborough School of Business and Communication.
    • School of Education, Civic leadership and Social change.
    • School of Health and Medical Humanities.
    • School of Science and Technology.

Campus

Hiram College is located in the rural area of Hiram, Ohio in the United States. The college is spread over 110 acres with state of the art facility and numerous activities and organizations.

Residence

Hiram College offers on-campus accommodation to international students but they can also look for off-campus student housing to stay in the US. The College has 8 residence halls for student accommodation with many meal plans for dining. The types of residence halls are as follows:

  • Bowler Hall is for upper-class students is home to the All Gender Housing Community on the second and third floors.
  • Booth/ Centennial Hall (BC), Booth is a co-ed hall and Centennial is an all-female hall. They house upper-class and first-year residents in two attached buildings. 
  • East Hall is a suite-style living for upper-class students with an option of six-eight person suite
  • Miller Hall is for upper-class and first-year resident students who enjoy a diverse environment and want to be a part of a great community.
  • Townhouses are a living community that is one of the newest housing options for upper-class students offering a more independent living experience.
  • Whitcomb Hall is a residential hall for first-year students.
  • Henry Hall is a newly renovated hall providing residence to upper-class students on the first floor and third floor to the first-year students.

Admission Process

Hiram College offers admission to students twice a year in the fall and spring semesters. The college offers admission on the basis of their previous academic performance and not on the field of study they are interested in. The admission requirements for international students are as follows:

  • Students need to fill out the application form online.
  • There is no application fee.
  • Deadlines are given as follows: 
    • Fall Semester: February 15
    • Spring Semester: October 15.
  • Students need to submit their high-school transcripts evaluated by WES, graded writing sample.
  • The applicant needs to have a qualifying score in TOEFL, IELTS, ACT, SAT, PTE, or SAKAE as a proof of English Proficiency. The qualifying scores are given below:
    • TOEFL (code: 1297) = iBT = 79, paper-based = 550 or above
    • IELTS band score = 6.0 or above
    • SAT (code: 1297) = EBRW = 520 or above
    • ACT (Code: 3280) = English score = 22 or above
    • PTE Academic score = 58 or above
    • SAKAE (SEPT) = 10 or above
  • ACT School Code: 3280
  • SAT School Code: 129
  • The applicant should have a Completed Certification of Finances and Affidavit of Sponsorship with supporting documents.
  • Copy of passport needs to be submitted.
  • The required documents can be uploaded on the application portal, mailed or e-mailed to the College.
  • Literal translations of documents that are not in English are required.
