University of Alabama Admission 2020-2021, Requirement, Deadline & Acceptance Rate

The admissions at the University of Alabama are granted based on:

An application is considered strong if the applicant has secured a minimum GPA of 2.9 and a composite ACT score of 20 or equivalent SAT score.

Recommendations or admission essay are not considered as a part of the University of Alabama Admissions procedure, however, can be submitted to supplement the application.

UAH Application Deadline

For undergraduate courses, admissions are conducted on a rolling basis and therefore there is no fixed application deadline. UAH recommends the students to apply for UAH in the Fall semester of their high school.

*Transfer students are encouraged to apply at least 2 months before the course start date as there is no fixed deadline.

UAH International Admissions

Every year, UAH admits a wide number of international students from over 60 countries. Applicants need to submit the standardized test scores and essential supporting documents as part of the application process.

The standardized test score requirements for international undergraduate and graduate students are the same as the domestic students and discussed in the following sections.

UAH English Language Requirement

Non-native English speakers need to demonstrate proficiency in English language by submitting scores of either of the tests mentioned below:

Internet-based TOEFL: All subscores equal to or greater than 18

IELTS: Score equal to or greater than 6.0

Financial Proof

International applicants need to submit an affidavit of financial support as proof of sufficient funds to support the cost of attendance for at least 1 academic year.

Health Insurance Requirement 

It is a mandate for all the admitted international students to purchase health insurance every semester. Family coverage may be included by paying an additional cost.

UAH Undergraduate Admissions

Application Portal: UAH accepts online applications for undergraduate courses through ‘Charger Status account’. However, domestic students may alternatively submit offline applications by downloading the application form and mail it to the Undergraduate Admissions office.

Application Fee: 30 USD

Academic Requirements: Applicants are required to submit ACT or SAT scores to fulfill the academic requirement.

Admission Requirements: It is essential for transfer applicants to meet the following minimum requirements:

  • An overall grade of C in college and grade C in all the transferrable courses
  • It is essential that the previous college of the applicant is regionally accredited.

UAH Graduate Admissions 

UAH offers over 80 degree and certificate programs at the graduate level. The common requirements for graduate admission are mentioned below:

Application Portal: Online applications for graduate courses can be made at theUAH Graduate Admission page’.

Application Fee: Applicants are required to pay an application fee of 60 USD. Additionally, the students applying through GradCAS, EngineeringCAS, or BusinessCAS need to pay the applicable processing fees.

Academic Requirements: Depending on the course requirements, applicants are required to submit scores of standardized tests:

  • GRE: Required for Science and Engineering programs. Furthermore, GRE scores are acceptable for Business programs in lieu of GMAT scores.

Minimum score required: Verbal & Quantitative: 300; Analytical Writing: 3.0

  • GMAT: Required and highly recommended for Business programs.

Minimum score required: 500

  • MAT: Required for Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

Minimum score required: 410

Supporting Documents: Academic transcripts from the institutions attended till now and English language test scores.
