Admissions at Bastyr University are mildly competitive due to the university’s selective nature. The institute has campuses in Kenmore and San Diego. The main aim of the educational courses in Bastyr University is to provide its students with in-depth knowledge of Natural Sciences, which puts it among the list of most innovative and specialized universities in the US.

Every year thousands of students apply for admission in the University but only 68% of them get admission. In fall Semester of 2018, 1,098 students enrolled in Bastyr University out of which 161 were Undergraduate students. 2% of those students are International students.

Bastyr University offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in nearly 25 disciplines including Health Psychology, Herbal Sciences, Nutrition and Acupuncture. Along with these courses, students can also apply for Certificate courses in Holistic Landscape Design and Chinese Herbal Medicine. 

  • Bastyr University accepts applications on a rolling basis until all available spaces are filled.
  • Students applying for a Master of Science in Nutrition must submit their application before February 1.
  • Students can apply for all other programs till March 15.
  • Bastyr University provides Financial Aid of 15,800 USD to the students every year.

Bastyr University International Students Admissions

Bastyr University heartily welcomes International students from all across the globe with the same hospitality as the domestic students. International students must fulfill certain requirements if they wish to study in the US. 

Admission requirements

To apply for any of the programs in the University, International students must submit following documents prior to their admission:

  • An application
  • Application fee
  • Letters of recommendation (when required)
  • Documentation of sufficient funds 
    • Total funds covering the cost of the first year of school, books and living expenses for spouse and/or children. 
    • It also involves Official Bank statements as proof of liquid assets.
  • An official evaluation of transcripts
    • Must be sent directly from a foreign credential evaluation service – Evaluation must be done by NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) 
  • A current photograph
  • A copy of passport

Optional Requirement: MCAT Score

English Proficiency Test Score for International Students

International students must submit scores of TOEFL and IELTS since English is the second language spoken in their country.

In the official TOEFL – Internet Based Test (iBT), students’ score should be 92. Minimum score for

  1. Speaking exam - 26
  2. Reading exam - 20
  3. Writing exam - 24
  4. Listening exam - 22

IELTSexam score of the applicant should be of 6.0.

International Student Visa

International students must apply for F1 student Visa to get admission in any of the programs offered by the Bastyr University which will ensure their stay in the country during the complete course of study. F1 Visa will not be given to the students in following conditions:

  • Dual citizenship
  • Lawful Permanent Resident
  • Valid Business Visa
  • Blood percentage of more than 50% North American Indian.

Documents required for applying for F1 visa are:

  • Valid passport
  • Form DS-160 for non-immigrant visa applications
  • Two photographs meeting the US Visa Photo Requirements
  • Proof of paid F1 visa fee
  • I-20 Form
  • Original Transcript
  • Acceptance letter from Bastyr University
  • Previous degree diplomas

After submitting all the required documents at the US Embassy, students have to attend a Visa interview. Processing time of an F1 visa is shorter than other Visas. In most of the cases, applicants get the response of Visa immediately after their interview. However, students are advised to start this process as soon as possible to avoid any delays in the whole process.

Financial Assistance

If the undergraduate students maintain an overall 3.0 GPA in second year, their one-year scholarship can be renewed. All International students are eligible for University funded Scholarship programs.
