Programs

Brigham Young University-Hawaii provides its applicants with ranging program options with the aid of learning in two types of environment: interactive on-campus or distance learning. Students take admission to the institute at varying levels of bachelors, associate's degrees and certificate/diploma programs. 

The university offers a range of majors, minors, and certificate programs in a total of 30 disciplines, popular of them being Accounting, Biology, Business Management, Computer Science, Psychology, among others. The university also offers a program for English and Hawaiian Studies.

Campus

The university is located in Laie, Hawaii ( a city with a population of nearly 7,000), which is situated 35 miles north of Honolulu, Oahu. The university campus is spread in an area of 100-acre, nestled between lush mountains and ideal shoreline. The institute has 3 main campus-based locations namely Provo, Utah; LDS Business College in Salt Lake City and Rexburg, Idaho. 

The campus ensures every possible facility for students at the nearest possible distance which includes on-campus parking and lodging, supermarket and shopping site, some great places to eat and beautiful cafes, among others.

Campus Tour:

Residence

The university offers 3 types of residential facilities: Off-Campus Residence, Single On-Campus Housing, and Married On-Campus Housing, details of which are as compiled below.

  1. Off-Campus Residence: The institute has a collaboration with property owners/agents across the Laie, Kahuku, Hauula communities and offers students many apartments and bedrooms, which are approved housing for eligible students.
  2. Single On-Campus Housing: The university provides room and board services in its 8 residence halls, which has separate dorms for men and women. The residence hall facilities on-campus are designed to maximize social interaction between students. Each residence hall is a two or three-story structure and contains rooms of double occupancy type which are fully furnished and come with all basic facilities.
  3. Married On-Campus Housing: The Temple View Apartments (TVA) is designed to accommodate about 314 student families and is near to the Laie Hawaii Temple. Each apartment is fully furnished with a refrigerator, stove, dining table, beds, dressers, and sofa. All interested applicants must pay a 50 USD non-refundable application fee for it. The total number of semesters a student can live in TVA is nine and for no longer than 3 additional semesters.

Brigham Young University Admission Process

The university welcomes students from over 70 countries around the world. Some significant details regarding international admissions at the institute are given below.

Application:Online Application/ Paper application for UG and PG programs.

Application Fee: 500 USD-Applicable to all International students . Married candidates have to pay 500 USD for each of his/her dependents.

Admission Requirements: International students applying for admissions at BYU-Hawaii, must submit the following documents:

  •  A copy of your passport (to be sent to International Student Services , internationalstudents@byuh.edu, to help prepare your visa documents).

What After Admission?

Once your tuition payment and passport have been processed, you will be given access to your student account at my.byuh.edu and student email through which registration of classes becomes possible. Post this, you will be enrolled in the New Student Online Orientation to make your stay and study easier at the institute.

Cost of Attendance

The cost of attending the university is drastically lower, as compared to the tuition of other colleges. The tables below show an estimated budget for international students to study in the US who are currently the prospective candidates of the institute.

Cost per credit (on-campus): 238 USD.

Cost per credit (online only): 110 USD.

International students along with the tuition fee must also deposit a processing fee of 500 USD. There are two ways in which a student can pay their International Processing Fee, which are:

  1. Call the Cashiers office and pay over the phone. Cashiers office Contact: (808) 675-3724 between the hours of 10 am-3 pm (Hawaii Standard Time). 
  2. Pay through Flywire.

Scholarship and Financial Aids

Financial aid available at the university is funded by federal, state, and university programs in the form of scholarships, loans, and grants. Studentships awarded are based on a combination of student's eligibility, academic performance, and other crucial factors.

Some of the scholarships to study in the USA available at the institute are as mentioned below.

  • University Merit Scholarship Policy: 

For this, a student is automatically eligible, after completing one semester at BYU–Hawaii. Eligible candidates must be enrolled in at least 14 credits for the Fall and Winter semesters and 9 credits for the Spring term. The scholarship amount varies from one-fourth to full tuition fee and is determined by the student's cumulative GPA which should have an average score of 3.6 and above.

  • Academic Program Scholarships:

These are decided by different academic departments which have their respective application process and criteria.

  • External Scholarships: 

There are various external studentships which have their own selection criteria and are awarded on various factors. For instance, Employment Boosts Scholarship available for candidates of all majors with a 3.6 GPA or above.
