Started as Lind University in 1857, the Lake Forest College is a private institute that evolved into its current form in 1925. Campus

  • Located in the suburban town of Lake forest 107 acres, situated 30 miles north of downtown Chicago, teh campus is divided into four sections naturally by wooded ravine.
  • The eco-friendly campus has hundreds of plants and bird species and offers a picturesque view to its students.
  • The campus has the best athletics facilities, Sports and recreation center, Science Center, Library and residence halls where approximately 86% of the students reside.
  • The campus also has a student-run organic garden and does a lot towards sustainability of the environment.

Housing facilities/Residence

  • The college has 11 residence halls. 3 in North Campus, 2 in Middle Campus, 5 in South Campus and one special housing.
  • Most of the residence halls offer kitchen, TV lounge area, and laundry facilities, one of the residence halls (Moore Hall) is air-conditioned. All the accommodations are with basic furnishings and amenities.
  • There are standard, Double, Super double, suite and fully furnished types of accommodations available on campus.
  • The accommodation charges vary from around USD 5,000 to 8,500 per year and the meal cost is around USD 6,000.

Courses

  • TheCollege has a plethora of courses for international students which includes 32 majors with minors and special programs. 
  • The College also offers off-Campus studies with more than 200 programs in 70 countries.
  • It provides two Master programs one in Liberal Studies and the other is teaching.
  • It also offers a number of continuing education programs for adults and community education.
  • The Undergraduate programs are offered in Liberal Arts, Biochemistry, Biology, Business, Economics, Languages, Communication, Data Science, Environmental Studies, International relations, Nursing, Music, Law, Psychology, Religion and Social Justice to list the popular ones.

Basic Admission Requirements

  •  Standardized Test Scores: SAT and ACT required for undergraduates. Graduate programs require GRE/GMAT scores.
  • Official transcripts of High school/College degree. These transcripts must be attested by the issuing university or Board.
  • English Language proficiency test(s) IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 83 for international non-native English speaking applicants.
  • Letters of recommendation from teachers and counselors are required.

Lake Forest College Scholarships/Financial Aid

More than 90% of the students receive some type of financial aid each year. The college awards over 14,000,000 USD as grants, loans andscholarships for international students to study in the USA.

The college offers merit-based scholarships up to USD 30,000 per year to international first-year students. For need-based scholarships, an online application needs to be completed. For Talent based scholarships in the Fine Arts field, students have to submit an application and portfolio to apply for the same.

The College Board’s International Student Financial Aid profile needs to be completed by international students barring the countries which are not allowed to receive this scholarship, to get the need-based scholarships. The need-based scholarship amount is a maximum of USD 35,000 per year.

Alumni Network

  • The College alumni known as ‘foresters’ help the members with academics, career, and recreation.
  •  The alumni keep the members connected through social media platforms and work as mentors for the current students.
  • The alumni host the students informally and arrange many sports events too.

Placements

The College has a dedicated Career Connections center that does its best to bring the employers and students together so that the students can get jobs or internships. There is an online job portal which allows the students to upload their resume and look for the suitable available positions. The portal helps them in enhancing their employment skills too.

The center has 11 highly qualified and dedicated staff members to help students with job placements and 99% of students either enroll for higher studies or get a job within six months of graduation from the college.

The College has a four-year pathway program in Business and Finance, Law and Public Service, Creative Arts and Communication and Science and Health Care. The students can make their own combination also and get job oriented study and training to get into employment faster after graduation.
