It was affordable and had a very good chemical engineering program. I originally planned to get my masters in biomedical engineering after I finished, so this program led to that very well. I liked the people I met in Las Cruces, and the head of the department was very helpful.
It was challenging, but useful. There was a bit too much Aspen Plus in the coursework for my taste, but it would be useful if you plan to go into the oil industry. I really didn't want to work in oil and gas, so I felt that it was a waste of my time.
I sought NMSU because the tuition was reasonable, 30 minutes from home and family and I didn't have to travel out of state to retain a great education. I was the first in my family to attend college so I had no advise.
I believe it's good and also diverse it helps you discover what you may not know and even in the future set you for a career plan you have not considered before just by taking one class.
