Alverno College is a Catholic, Franciscan college especially for women in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, U.S.A. It was established in 1887 and about 1700 students are enrolled in the institute currently. 

The college has accreditations from The Higher Learning Commission, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, National Association of Schools of Music and American Music Therapy Association. 

It offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the fields of Nursing, Business, and Education among others. Alverno College is also a member of NC-SARA (the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements). The U.S News and World Report have labelled Alverno College as “Best Value School” and Wall Street Journal has termed the college as “Most inspirational”.

Alverno College Programs, Campus, and Accommodation

Programs, Faculties and Divisions

Alverno College offers undergraduate courses and postgraduate courses. For postgraduate studies both Masters and Doctoral Programs are available. Online degree and classroom courses are there for students.

  • More than 60 undergraduate and 10 postgraduate courses are offered.
  • Undergraduate courses are offered in four fields - Nursing and Health Profession, Business and Education, Arts and Sciences and Adult Learning and Initiatives.
  • Postgraduate courses are offered in the fields of Education, Business Administration, Nursing, Psychology, Music and Arts.
  • Nursing and Health Profession related programs are some of the most popular courses.

Campus

Alverno College has a 46-acre campus near downtown Milwaukee. The centrally located campus has access to other parts of the city as well. The campus consists of residence halls, classrooms, fitness centre, dining halls and parking among other buildings.

Residence/Housing Facilities

Alverno College provides on-campus housing facilities. There are two residence halls – Austin Hall and Clare Hall. All residents have to sign up for meal plans.

  • Austin Hall offers four types of rooms – Double, Small Single, Large Single and Suites.
  • Clare Hall offers Large Single and Suites.
  • Clare Hall has an independent living environment.
  • Three different meal plans of varying prices are available for students.
  • Students have to complete Housing Application and Contract online to avail residential facilities.

Alverno College Application Process

Alverno College accepts online applications. It is currently accepting undergraduate applications for the Fall session. There is no application charge and no application deadline. Students have to apply here.

Admission Requirements

  • High School GPA of 2.3, completion of 17 academic units in high school, rank in the upper half of class and minimum of 17 in ACT or SAT score.
  • Official transcripts of previous education.
  • Statement of evidence of financial support.
  • A personal essay, goal statement, letters of reference.
  • Proof of English Language Proficiency – Official copy of IELTS/TOEFL/STEP score.

Alverno College offers scholarships for first-year students who are registered for full-time studies. Alverno Scholarships are awarded based on merit. International students can apply for academic scholarships and alumnae referral scholarships. Academic scholarships have deadlines to apply.
