Middlebury Institute of International Studies offers its incoming students with a wide array of affordable degree programs that will help them meet their educational and career goals. The courses that the college offer includes- 12 master’s programs, 3 joint master programs, 3 joint BA/MA degrees, certificates and professional development programs. 

Professional degree programs offered at the institute include Master programs in International Education Management, International Environmental Policy, Business Administration, International Policy and Development, etc.

Middlebury Institute of International Studies Campus and Residence

Middlebury Institute of International Studies is located in downtown Monterey, California, the language capital of the world. With the latest learning technologies, culturally diverse population and proximity to Silicon Valley, the Middlebury Institute of International Studies is a great place for international students. 

Unlike other similar institutions, MIIS does not have an on-campus living arrangement for its students. Thus, all the students live off-campus. The main campus of the institute is located in a residential area of downtown Monterey.

International students can look for affordable student housing options off-campus such as homestays, shared or rented apartments, etc. They can find housing options at places like Monterey Bay Craigslist, ApartmentList.com, Monterey Herald, Zillow Group, and several small and large apartment complexes.

Middlebury Institute of International Studies Admission Process

Admissions at Middlebury Institute of International Studies are open for the fall semester for all programs and the spring semester for a few programs.

Scholarships and Fellowships at Middlebury Institute of International Studies

International students at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies can apply for various international scholarships based on merit and need. Partner scholarships are also available to help students support their studies in the USA.

  • The Legacy Scholarship Award: Is awarded to degree holders from any Middlebury school for the on-site master’s programs. Depending upon the applicant’s strength of the application and financial situation, this scholarship provides 10,000 USD. One can simply apply for it through their enrollment advisor.
  • Paul D. Coverdell Fellows Program: This program guarantees an 18,000 USD annual scholarship for the winner’s master’s degree. It is a form of support to meet service hours that he or she will put in through internships and projects
  • Eucalyptus Foundation Presidential Scholarship: It is an endowed and named scholarship offered to all students at Middlebury Institute of International Studies. 
  • Gard ‘n’ Wall Nonproliferation Scholarship: Another endowed and named scholarship offered to students in the Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies program
  • External Scholarships: Apart from these the students at MIIS also have a chance at assisting their tuition through external scholarships, the amount awarded for which varies year to year along with their deadlines. A few of the external scholarships include-

Education Loans for students at Middlebury Institute of International Studies

International students at MIIS can apply for private U.S. education loans. Although an international student require a cosigner to be eligible for education loan, they can get a maximum award of up to their annual cost of attendance established by MIIS, less other forms of financial aid they have applied for.

Students can also apply for education loans in their respective home countries to finance their education at MIIS.

Institute Work-study

International students can apply for on-campus work-study and earn valuable professional experience. However, all international students are required to provide proof of availability of finances that covers the cost of attendance without the need to work in order to obtain their F-1 or J-1 student visa. International students can work up to 20 hours a week as part of the work-study program.
