IU Southeast Campus and Residence/ Housing Facilities

Located in New Albany, six miles away from Louisville, Indiana University Southeast is the regional campus of Indiana University. The university campus is spread across an area of 10 acres. The students can attend the exciting cultural events at Louisville, which is only six miles away from the campus.

At IU Southeast, students can stay in apartment-style residence halls. There are four types of apartments that include studio; one bedroom, one bath; two bedrooms with two baths; and four bedrooms with two baths. 

Each apartment has its own kitchen and living room. Meals and dinners can be enjoyed on campus commons and through vending machines by paying through CrimsonCard, an official campus ID.

For applying for university housing, students must complete the housing contract with the payment of non-refundable application fee of 75 USD. 

IU Southeast Programs

Indiana University Southeast offers degrees and certificates in more than 50 undergraduate and graduate programs. The university offers UG majors and minors, graduate degrees, and certificates at both the UG and Graduate level. All these degrees and certificate programs at IU Southeast are offered through six academic schools: Arts & Letters, Natural Sciences, Business, Social Sciences, Education, and Nursing. 

The most popular majors offered at IU Southeast include Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services; Health Professions and Related Programs; Education; Psychology; and Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities. 

Graduate degree programs offered at the university include master programs in business, interdisciplinary studies, education, arts and letters, social science and nursing.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

IU Southeast offers several financial aid options to students. These include scholarships, grants, federal work-study, loans, etc. Students can apply for various financial aid options based on need and merit. 

Automatic Scholarships: Freshmen admitted to the university with good academic GPA and standardized exams are eligible for these scholarships. These scholarships are renewable for up to 4 years if a recipient maintains a 3.0 minimum grade point average and enrolls in 15 credit hours each semester. The eligibility for the automatic scholarship is:

General Scholarships:

  • Adam Woeppel Fine Arts Scholarship: A renewable scholarship with an amount up to 500 USD. Preference is given to the students who have already completed their Fine Arts course. The minimum GPA required is 3.0.
  • Altrusa Club of New Albany: It is a non-renewable scholarship for female students (graduate or undergraduate) offering up to 500 USD. One is required to apply every year. The deadline is March 10, every year.
  • Balfour Scholarship: For freshman students, scholarship offered up to 2000 USD. It is generally non-renewable, but sometimes they can renew it for 4 years for students with a 3.5 GPA.

International students can also apply for various international scholarships to study in the USA offered to students by various private agencies or the government. Education loans are another way for international students to finance their education in the USA. 

Alumni Network

IU Southeast has strong alumni networking. It has an association to keep the alumni of the university close to its activities. The IU Southeast alumni board also helps the alumni to attain community services. Irrespective of which branch one studied in, he or she becomes a member of the IU alumni network. The IU Southeast Alumni Board helps the students build their careers by seeking for them the perfect opportunities. 

Some IU Southeast alumni are:

  • Ron Gettelfinger – The former student of IU Southeast was the president of the United Auto Workers (2002-2010.) He also became a member of the Ford-UAW bargaining company.
  • Jazzmarr Ferguson – Positioned as a point guard, this IU Southeast alumnus is a professional American Basketball player.
  • Ella Simons – The only woman vice president of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventist, also an administrator and an educator of the same was a student at the IU Southeast.
