University of Mississippi International Admissions

For international applicants, the university has a separate Office of International Programs (OIP). All the admission related processes and queries are managed by the OIP only. International applicants must check the admission requirements provided by the OIP.

Admission Requirements for International Students

  • Copies of their official transcripts/ degrees/ diplomas must be officially sent by mail.
  • Certified English translations of documents that are in any other language.
  • Letters of recommendation and statement of purpose can either be uploaded online or sent by mail.
  • Copy of identification page(s) of the passport
  • Official Standardized test scores must be sent directly by the testing agency/centre.
  • Proof of available finances

English Proficiency Test Score

International applicants belonging to the non-English speaking nations are required to submit proof of English language proficiency. The university accepts the following tests:

Applicants who meet all the admission requirements except the English language proficiency are considered for conditional admissions. These applicants must directly contact the Intensive English Program for further instructions.

International Transfer Students

The academic requirements for the transfer applicants are given below:

  • Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Applicants with less than 10 transferable courses at the university level, must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

University of Mississippi Undergraduate Admissions

The University of Mississippi offers around 80 undergraduate programs. The university also provides admissions to those applicants who are unsure of their undergraduate major at the time of application.

Each application that is sent to the university is evaluated by the admission committee within each program. It is this committee that recommends whether to accept the application or not. Generally, the university will contact the applicant regarding the decision on the admission. This will most likely be done via e-mail.
