With a history of almost 200 years, Centenary College prides itself on cultivating "worldwide commitment" among its students with undergraduate and graduate programs. The college is the oldest chartered liberal arts college and the only Tier One National Liberal Arts College in Louisiana. 

Currently, Centenary College of Louisiana is home to 585 students with 552 UG and 33 PG students. Graduated class of Centenary is presently working at top-notch organizations such as Disney, Warner Bros. Studios, and Ronald McDonald House Charities, etc.

Centenary College Programs, Campus and Residence

Programs

Through its 17 departments and 2 schools, Centenary College offers several programs in study areas like science, arts, management, music, liberal arts, etc. Students can choose from a range of arts and science UG majors and minors as well as two PG programs at Centenary College of Louisiana. 

Research opportunities are available for students throughout the year, in several of the departments, both on-campus and off-campus. The college also welcomes exchange students from all over the world and has study abroad partnerships with overseas institutions for its students.

Campus

The college campus at Centenary College lies south of downtown Shreveport covering over 65 acres. The campus is known for its national beauty and durable architecture of its buildings. At Centenary College of Louisiana, students shall never have a dull moment, outside class. Students can become members of numerous campus clubs and organizations.

The beautiful campus is dotted with numerous facilities such as the Dr. Ed Leuck Academic Arboretum, with over 300 species of plant life is one of the most beautiful parts of campus. The campus also has its state of the art fitness center, playhouse for hosting theatres, auditoriums, and an amphitheater.

Residence

Centenary College offers on-campus residential facilities and all students are expected to live on campus, in any one of the 5 residential halls/buildings. An exception to this rule is made in the case of non-traditional students.

Each of the buildings has furnished rooms and amenities such as laundry, kitchen, internet, telephone, cable connection, bathrooms, etc. There are no community bathrooms at Centenary.

The five residence halls are - Cline Hall, Hardin Hall, James Hall, Rotary Hall, and Sexton Hall.

  • Cline Hall accommodates more than 200 students and is very close to the Student Union Building and the campus fitness center.
  • Rotary Hall offers furnished and well equipped 1 and 2 bedroom apartments to 70 upper-division students.
  • Hardin Hall is close to the entrance of the main campus and houses 60 students.
  • Sexton Hall is close to the Hurley School of Music and the library and can accommodate 80 students.
  • Lastly, James Hall has 2 connected buildings – James Proper and James Annex and can accommodate almost 200 students.

Centenary College Admission Process

Several kinds of financial aid are available to students applying to Centenary College of Louisiana. International students are eligible to apply for the merit-based scholarships offered by Centenary College. *Evidence-based Reading and Writing/Math

  • Scholars Weekend & Competitive Scholarships- Students who are eligible for President’s Scholarships and who are accepted before December 15 can apply for the competitive scholarships which take place in early Spring.
  • Artistic Merit Awards- These awards are awarded to students who are selected through audition or portfolio review by art, music, and theatre faculty. Students can renew these awards if they continue to participate in the artistic program. 
  • Aid from US Government, organizations or sponsors- International students can apply for international scholarships in the USA offered by US government or private organizations. 
  • Aid from Home Country- International students can contact the Embassy or the Ministry of Education in their respective home countries regarding the scholarships available to pursue studies in the USA. Students can also contact the private organizations in their home country who can support study in the USA.
  • Aid from International Organizations- Although international students require to apply for scholarships from their home country, graduate students can apply for scholarships offered by the United Nations or the Organization of American States.
  • Aid for students from India- HDFC Credila Educational Loan Services provide loans to students of Indian ancestry to study in the USA. Students can contact them for details regarding the loans. Indian students can also apply for specific scholarships for Indian students in the USA.

The college has its own dedicated alumni association which arranges various events throughout the year for its members. Members can keep in touch online. A few of the notable alumni at the college are:
