Cabrillo was established in the year 1959 and is named after the Potugese explorer Juan Rodirguez Cabrillo who discovered California. The College has two campuses one is located at 6500 Soquel drive, Central coast of California which is the main campus and the other one at Watsonville Centre, Downtown Watsonville.

International students can go for a variety of programs offered by Cabrillo College. These programs range from 1-year certificate course to 1 to less than 2 year certificate course and Associate degree. These programs are useful for students who want to transfer to UC Santa Cruz.

Application Fee: Non-refundable application fee of $60 has to be paid along with the application. The application fee can be paid via check or money order made payable to Cabrillo College.

English Proficiency Requirements for International Students 

The language of instruction at Cabrillo College is English. Thus, international students whose first language or primary language is not English in their country need to submit a proof English proficiency so as to be eligible to seek admissions at Cabrillo College. The college only accepts the scores of TOEFL and IELTS as a proof of English proficiency. The required minimum scores of TOEFL exams to be eligible to apply to Cabrillo College is mentioned-below:

International students who want to study in the USA need to have a Sevis I-20 Form or Sevis D-29 Form issued by an educational institution or sponsor. Once the Sevis I-20 form or Sevis D-29 forms are issued, students then are eligible for the F-1 visa or J-1 visa to study in the USA.

Cabrillo College Undergraduate Admissions

Cabrillo college offers a variety of undergraduate programs under Associate in Art degree and Associate in Science Degree. The college also offers various certificates of achievement as well. The Associate degree is a 2 year program with an average tuition fees and books expense of $8000 for Spring and Fall semester for International Students. These associate programs are offered in various fields. The most sought after associate programs are in the fields of Accounting, Journalism, Computer Science, English Language and Literature, Medical/Clinical Assistant, Criminal Justice and Political Science, and Mathematics.

Admission Decisions for International Students

International students who have submitted the application before the deadline with the admission requirements and meet the eligibility requirements for the chosen program will be accepted by the Cabrillo College. Accepted students will then be sent an I-20 Form and acceptance letter after two weeks of submitting admission requirements and application. Along with these an information package will also be sent. Once the students receive the I-20 Fee, then they will be required to pay the Sevis Fee and schedule their visa interview at the US Embassy or Consulate.

Since Cabrillo College does not offer any scholarships for international students, thus students are advised to plan their finances while applying to the college. Although students can benefit from the work-study program offered on-campus and earn to pay their tuition fee.

Cabrillo College has started to offer online lectures due to the Covid-19 crisis. The college does not want the studies to get affected and have started issuing laptops to students so they can have access to online classes. The campus is closed due to Covid-19 and may open soon when the pandemic ends.
