Courses

The University of Baltimore offers a plethora of courses for international students at levels ranging from undergraduate, graduate to professional as well as several certificate and joint degree programs. It was renowned for offering the students with more than 20 Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degree programs, extending to the arts and sciences, public affairs, and business. 

The available courses are offered across its 4 faculties namely, College of Public Affairs, Merrick School of Business, School of Law and Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences.

Campus

The main campus of the University of Baltimore is located in Baltimore's Mt. Vernon well renowned cultural district which is close to downtown and the Inner Harbor. Located near to the campus are the attractions- The Lyric Opera House, Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, and the Maryland Institute College of Art. For the majority, the main academic buildings circle the intersections of Mount Royal Avenue and North Charles Street. At the centre of campus is the Gordon Plaza.

The university buildings include:

  • Mebane Turner Learning Commons, William H. Thumel Sr. Business Center, The Academic Center, John and Frances Angelos Law Center, The Charles Royal Building, Robert L. Bogomolny Library UB Student Center, and The Liberal Arts and Policy Building.

Just to the north of campus is the Penn Station, with connections to Amtrak and MARC service. The University of Baltimore/Mt. Royal station on the Baltimore Light Rail system is situated on the northwest edge of campus. Along with these the State Center station on the Baltimore Metro system is a stone’s throw away from the campus. The University of Baltimore runs shuttle bus service between its academic buildings, parking garages, and the nearby public transportation/local transit stops for the students and faculty.

Housing Facilities/Residence

While the institute does not offer on-campus housing, there are many great housing options all around the university midtown. If one wishes to live near campus, he or she not only be steps from classes but also close to their friends and all the conveniences and luxuries city life provides. 

Buildings near campus that are home to large numbers of institute’s students include the Varsity, Fitzgerald at UB Midtown, Sutton Place, Queen Anne Belvedere and the Professional Arts Building.

Few housing options are namely the 501, 405 W Redwood Apartments and Fitzgerald at UB Midtown, among others.

Application deadline: Fall – April 1; Spring – December 1 

Application Fee: 35 USD for all undergraduate and 50 USD for all graduate applicants

How to Apply

Specific requirements: All the academic records/transcripts from the previously attended institution(s) can be mailed from your high school in a sealed and signed envelope or sent digitally through a secure electronic source and evaluated by WES.

Additional requirements: Copy of the Biographic Page of the Passport, Bank Statement, ID Proof, Financial Documentation to support I-134 and University of Baltimore Supplemental Form, Valid student Visa.

Standardized Test Scores: One of the tests SAT or ACT scores must be submitted. A large proportion of freshmen admitted in Fall 2019 had SAT scores in the range of 550-700. A composite score between 20-29 in the ACT is the safest to apply.

English Proficiency Requirements: Have a recent TOEFL score on the online version of 65 or an IELTS score of 6.0 or greater.

Scholarships/Financial Aid

The institute offers financial aid in the form of various scholarships for international students to study in the USA which are mentioned as follows:

  1. The Wilson Presidential Scholarships: Is one of the highest competitive awards given to a transfer student who has shown academic excellence and exceptional promise for the future. It amounts to Full In-State Tuition. Students having a minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher must submit their applications by April 20.
  2. Freshmen Scholarship: Incoming freshman is automatically considered for up to 6,000 USD in annual scholarships. The award to this merit-based scholarships is calculated by the applicant's high school GPA and the SAT/ACT scores submitted by them at the time of admission. Priority consideration for scholarships is given to those whose application is received by December 1.
  3. Featherstone Scholarship: This scholarship is open to high school seniors who will start their first semester at the University of Baltimore, undergraduate students applying to transfer to UB, as well as current U.B. college freshman, sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students. Eligible students must submit their application by March 24.
  4. Graduate Scholarships: The scholarship awards an amount of 1,000 USD to graduate students with exemplary past academic records. They must be having a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and must submit the applications by December 1.

Apart from these the students at the institute also have a chance at assisting their tuition through outside scholarships which include- Transfer scholarships, law scholarships, Maryland Legislative scholarships, Edward T. Conroy Memorial & Jean B. Cryor Memorial Scholarship and many more. The amount awarded by each of these scholarships varies year to year along with their deadlines.

The Journey of a student doesn’t end at commencement, in fact, the University of Baltimore is famous for its well established Alumni Association which helps in providing meaningful opportunities for its graduates to engage with and also develop a lifelong partnership with the University. 

Be it assisting future students in discovering the university for the first time or guiding current students with their career choices or even meeting up with other alumni, the Alumni Association Membership is free and available to all students upon graduation. The college arranges special events, provides networking opportunities and keeps our alumni aware of continuing education opportunities.
