Bethany College is a privately-supported classical liberal arts college. The campus is spread over 1300 acres of land located in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains. The college offers 26 departmental, 33 miners, 6 interdisciplinary majors.

It was founded in 1840, and also has a religious affiliation to the Christian Church. The college follows a semester-based academic calendar. Programs, Campus, and Residence

Programs

Bethany College offers 26 departmental and 6 interdisciplinary majors as well as 33 minors programs. The degrees offered at the college are Bachelors of Arts, Bachelors of Science, Masters of Arts in Teaching. The college also offers dual degrees in engineering and law.

Campus

The Bethany College campus is spread over 1,300 acres in the foothills of the Allegheny mountains, situated just one mile from Pennsylvania and five miles from Ohio. 

Apart from the vast housing facilities provided On Campus, the college provides meeting areas such as Commencement Hall and Academic Parlour. It also provides Athletic Facilities such as Thomas Phillips Johnson Recreation Center, Hummel Field House, and Practice Soccer Complex. 

Residence

Bethany provides on-campus housing for approximately 800 students. Following is the list of On-Campus Residencies:

  • Campbell Village Residence
    • Consists of Apartment Style suits for 4 students each with their bedroom
    • Central Conditioning provided along with laundry facilities, vending services
    • Provides housing to both freshmen and upperclassmen
    • Handicap Accessible
  • Cochran Hall
    • Newest Residence, housing over 70 students in its recently renovated modern suite-style rooms, each accommodates 2 to 6 students
    • Central air conditioning and laundry facilities are available
  • Phillips Hall
    • All-female residence, houses over 100 Bethany students in bedrooms with 2 single beds.
  • Harlan Hall
    • Provides residence to students accepted into the Honors Program
    • Students live in single bedrooms
    • It has Air Conditioning unit in each of the rooms

Application Process

Bethany College has slightly different requirements for international students, they are given below. An important thing to note is that the application will not be reviewed until all materials are received.

Application Deadline(Recommended)

  • Fall Semester- June 1
  • Spring Semester- November 1

Application Requirements :

  • Submit Official Transcripts
  • Submit English language proficiency tests such as TOEFL(Preferred Score 60) or IELTS(Preferred Score 5.5). 
    • Also completing highest-level coursework offered by Intensive English Language Centre with a passing grade is accepted as a form of English Proficiency. 
    • It is preferred that this coursework or examinations be taken within the past 3 years
  • Certificate of Financial Support Form needs to be downloaded and completed
  • Documentation of yearly taxable income has to be provided for citizens of countries of regulated income taxes.
  • A currently certified bank statement is needed, on bank letterhead, showing the family's ability to pay full tuition for 1 year.
  • It is recommended to have one letter of recommendation (preferably from a counselor or teacher).
  • Completed Medical History form is needed in prescribed format
  • Also, list of immunization history is required

    • 25 or higher Composite ACT score needed
    • Also, Award maintenance is subjected to several criteria.

Church-Based Awards

  • Disciples of Christ Student Scholarship
  • Amount: 16,000 USD 
  • Eligibility: 
    • Students who are members of churches affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ. 
    • A letter documenting church membership must be submitted by the church pastor.

Alexander Campbell Religious leadership award

  • Amount: 5000 USD
  • To apply, students need to submit an essay showing their commitment to religious leadership and describing their experiences.
  • Also, 2 letters of recommendation are required from individuals familiar with the student's role as a church leader
