Eastern Illinois University
About my university
I chose EIU because the moment I stepped on campus I felt like I was home. I also was fortunate to get many scholarships here to help aid the cost of going to a 4-year university. Eastern also has one of the best teaching programs in the United States, so that's a big win for me.
I like the course curriculum. I think that EIU does a great job of providing us with all kinds of teaching experiences so that way we will be prepared for any type of setting. I have taken art, physical education, and many other courses outside of just regular teaching.
I took the ACT to get into college. I am also required to get above a 22 on it for my teaching licensure.
There are many different exams that we are given. Sometimes teachers will have online exams. Other times, they will have in-class exams. These exams range from scantron, multiple-choice, writing, verbal, matching, etc.
I love most of the faculty here at EIU. The class size at eastern Illinois university are always fairly small so you and your teachers really get to develop a bond.
At EIU we have a lot of cool programs out on for our campus through university board. These programs generate money from a fee in our tuition which is really worth it.
I love my residence hall. I am a resident assistant in it. We have lots of different housing options for students. We have residence halls, apartment-style living, apartments, and even housing for students with families.
The placements are very good. There are a series of interviews that you have to go through in order to get to know your personality. From there, they will have meetings and figure out where they think each student will thrive.
Yes, my college offers plenty of internships. We also have lots of cool opportunities for students in Housing and Dining Services. We also have graduate assistant positions that are stipend and also help to wave tuition.
We have tons of events here on campus. We have a mental health week that is a week-long, we always have a spring concert with huge names, we have a huge homecoming where many alums come back, and we have a Greek life celebration that is a week-long as well.
You fill out for FASFA and put in the schools FASFA Id number. Then you will log into your student account to see your financial aid package. There is also an outside website they provide for scholarships.
