University at Buffalo
University at Buffalo review
The campus and community felt like home. And the school is well known for its academics. The professors and advisors are knowledgeable and helpful. It was easy to make friends and experience different cultures.
The course curriculum is interesting. The professors make the material interesting and easy to learn and understand. The material is challenging but not overwhelming. No matter what portion of geology you are interested in there are courses available.
The exam structure in the geology program is very reasonable. Some of the teachers allow cheat sheets and some have take-home application exams. These are a better representation of our knowledge and helps us apply it rather than a regurgitation of information.
The faculty in the Geology department is great. They are open to helping the students and leading them down interesting paths. They make difficult concepts easy to understand and our knowledge is applied to real-life situations almost immediately under the advisement of the professors.
The fee charges are outrageous. We are charged for services we may not us and these services are then marketed to us as free. For exam the gym fees and the bus fee. Many of us prefer not to go to the gym and the on-campus housing gives us the opportunity to never need to take the bus.
The college does provide internships for the geology students but many of them are unpaid and require relocation. The internships are usually very long and most are not on the east coast. A majority of them are in the midwest.
Monthly Expense : $500 - $1500
