My journey of becoming a professional
I was looking for a program that would act as the pathway for cracking the CPA exam and my college fitted the bill perfectly. The admission is done via the college's official portal and required me to pay $45 as an application fee. I was particularly asked to get all my transcripts evaluated from a NACES accredited service.
My curriculum was centered around the technical competencies associated with the Accounting profession. Some of these competencies are risk assessment, analysis and management; measurement analysis and interpretation, and reporting. Research, System, and Process Management is given importance throughout the course.
My program is a professional program that caters to all individuals who are looking to make it big in the field. For the 30 credit hours course, I needed a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5 or higher. I had submitted my GMAT score of 1100 which included 200 from my undergraduate GPA. My TOEFL score was 79 in the internet-based test. I also had to submit an updated resume.
I have 12 credit hours in one semester so I have to pay $10000. As an international student, I am neither eligible for federal scholarship nor for the loan. So I had applied for Graduate teaching assistantship this semester and was fortunate enough to get it. I had maintained a GPA of 3.0 until then so I was shortlisted.
I live in a dorm in Elliot Hall. It is allocated to female students only and has the capacity to accommodate almost 150 students. I was happy to have my residency here since the entire third floor is dedicated to students so that we can study in peace and solitude. The accommodation cost me around $2500 every year.
My college nurtures us for the job from day one. Some of the designations that are acquired by my alumni are- Public Accountant, Tax Accountant, Auditor, Appraiser, Budget Analyst, Credit Analyst, Financial Examiner, Tax Examiner, Revenue Agent, and Educator. My College organizes Annual Meet and Firms Career Fair during the Fall Semester.
There is a Cybersecurity Information Booth and Giveaway every year. It is a fun-filled event and educational as well. Since I am a part of the Program Council I have to attend the PC General Interest Meeting to bring new faces to the Council. It will be held at the Lowman Student Center.
