California Institute of Technology
Learning Social Science at California
I always wanted to study from the California Institute of Technology. Due to its high-end facilities that include the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (managed for NASA), the Caltech Seismological Laboratory, and the International Observatory Network. It has a strong and published alumni network, various inventors were the university's students, and most importantly the former visitors including Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking were connected with the university
Modern statistical, econometric methods, game theory, social choice, and many other topics are included in the curriculum. These topics will provide me a unique perspective and background of the course. This rigorous training will also provide me the foundation and skills needed to conduct independent research.
The reason for pursuing this course is that I wanted to conduct my own researches and write a thesis on it. To get into the university I was required to appear for the TOEFL and for the SAT. Apart from this I also submitted the LORS that I got from the school, transcripts, and later I was called for an interview session.
I pay $50000 as the total fee of the curriculum. This fee includes the charges of room, board, food, books, and other supplies. Various financial facilities are provided by the university like scholarship, loans, and grants. I too have applied for the merit-based scholarship program. I will be availing more than $15000 per year on the total tuition fee.
Goldman Sachs, Google, Facebook, JPL, Microsoft, and Northrop Grumman are the companies with which my friends and I did a paid internship. All of us paid around $20-$30 on a weekly basis.
Monthly Expense : $2500 - $3500
