University of North Alabama
How I lived my life at University of North Alabama (UNA)
This university was one of my shortlisted universities mainly because of the programs and courses it offers and because of the quality of the education here. The university is pretty competitive and also accepts less percentage of students around 55% of the total application. My relatives residing in the USA also suggested this university which was another reason for choosing this college. As I applied to the official website, I was required to pay an application fee of $100.
The course is designed to develop an in-depth understanding of the application of information technology in the industry. The Computer science and information system curriculum is structured to provide a strong foundation for careers in IT management, software development, systems/business analysis, web development, infrastructure design and administration, project management, and database development.
I had given TOEFL(PBT) securing marks of 190. Moreover, I also had to write a reason why I want to join what I am looking to do after my joining along with a letter of recommendation. A document of parents' income is also required where the income should be $ 32000 or above.
The tuition fee for the computer science and information system is $20000 per year. A lot of scholarships are available for the students with the average scholarship money of about $4000 on the tuition fee. Nearly 74% of the students applying for the scholarship are able to avail of the scholarship.
The entire time I have in off-campus resident because it is a lot cheaper than the on-campus residence which is around $ 7500 per year while in off-campus residence I pay around $300 per year and also the complex is pretty close to the university.
The placement scenario is quite good with around 90% of students getting employed from computer science and information system course. The median salary for freshmen from the college is $ 60000. Many big and medium-sized enterprises including tech giants like Facebook and google come for placement but gives employment to a very less number of students.
Yes, the college offers an internship after completion of the course till 2nd year. Apart from that students can work while studying. I have personally worked for a year under one of our professors as his assistant.
The university students take part in a lot of sports events, during the winter there are lots of basketball competitions that are held for the entire month of December. Other sports like tennis is also very popular inside the campus, a lot of different cultural fests and tech fests are organized throughout the year.
