University of Virginia
UVA: A School with Southern Charm
UVA offered me the feel of a southern school with the academics of a smart university. It is not too big but has everything you could need. People care about classes here so you are never going to be stuck in a class with apathetic peers.
I like the course curriculum at UVA especially because Echols Scholars have the ability to take only the classes we want. There are very few requirements for Echols Scholars which gives us the freedom to take interesting classes.
I took the new SAT with a score of 1590 and I also took the ACT with a score of 36. I have not taken any other standardized exams.
There are exams at the end of every semester for each class. There are also usually mid terms sometime during each semester in the middle, but these are entirely decided by the professors on a case by case basis.
I like the faculty at UVA although because of the size of the university they often rely on graduate student teaching assistants to perform a large chunk of the teaching.
Every semester you are charged online through an account called Student Information Services which you can pay with a bank account or credit card.
Monthly Expense : $500 - $1500
