• JEE Main 2027 Registration: The gateway to JAC Delhi 2027 is JEE Main 2027. Registration for Session 1 is expected around October–November 2026 — in 2026, JEE Main Session 1 registration opened on October 21, 2025. Start preparation now to target the 99+ percentile required for top branches.
• JAC Delhi 2027 Registration: Based on the 2026 schedule, JAC Delhi 2027 registration is expected to open around late May 2027 — in 2026, it opened on May 28 and closed on June 9. The registration fee is ₹1,500 (non-refundable). A second window opened June 26–28, 2026 before Round 2; a similar window may be offered in 2027.

What is JAC Delhi 2027?

JAC Delhi stands for Joint Admission Counseling Delhi. It is the official centralised admission process for B.Tech and B.Arch programmes at government-funded technical universities in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. The Joint Admission Committee (JAC), Delhi organizes this counselling every year and allocates seats based on JEE Main scores — there is no separate JAC Delhi entrance exam.

If you have a valid JEE Main 2027 rank (Paper 1 for B.Tech or Paper 2 for B.Arch) and meet the academic eligibility conditions, you register on the JAC Delhi portal, fill a priority list of college-programme preferences (called choices), and the system allots seats across four regular rounds, one upgradation round, and one spot round if seats remain. JAC Delhi 2026 offered 7,861 seats — the largest seat pool in JAC Delhi history — and 2027 is expected to offer similar or slightly more.

Five universities participate in JAC Delhi 2027: DTU, NSUT, IGDTUW, IIIT-Delhi, and DSEU. These are among the most reputed government engineering universities in India, with strong placements and NAAC accreditation. JAC Delhi 2027 Eligibility Criteria

To participate in JAC Delhi 2027 counselling, you must meet both examination and academic eligibility requirements. These are set by the Joint Admission Committee, Delhi, separately from JEE Main eligibility. Read these carefully before registering.

Eligibility for B.Tech Programmes (DTU, NSUT, IGDTUW, DSEU)

• JEE Main 2027 Rank: You must have a valid JEE Main 2027 rank from Paper 1. Your name must appear in the Common Rank List (CRL) published by NTA. There is no minimum qualifying percentile set by JAC Delhi, but only ranked candidates can register.
• Class 12 Percentage: You must have secured at least 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) in Class 12 or equivalent.
• English Requirement: English (Core or Elective) must have been passed as a separate subject at the Class 12 level.
• Pass Status: You must have fully passed all subjects in Class 12. Compartment candidates are not eligible for JAC Delhi 2027.
• Age: You must be between 17 and 25 years of age as on October 1, 2027.

Eligibility for B.Tech at IIIT-Delhi (Stricter Criteria)

• Valid JEE Main 2027 Paper 1 rank
• Minimum 70% aggregate in the best 5 subjects (including PCM) in Class 12
• Minimum 70% marks specifically in Mathematics in Class 12

IIIT-Delhi has a higher eligibility bar (70% in PCM vs 60% for other JAC Delhi colleges). If your Class 12 maths score is below 70%, you cannot fill IIIT-Delhi choices in JAC Delhi 2027.

Eligibility for B.Arch Programme (DTU and IGDTUW)

• Valid rank in JEE Main 2027 Paper 2 (B.Arch) — Paper 1 rank is not accepted for B.Arch
• Minimum 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination (Class 12 or equivalent)
• Mathematics must have been studied and passed at the Class 12 level

Delhi Region (DR) vs Outside Delhi (OD) Quota

Which seat pool you compete in depends on where you studied for your qualifying examination — not where you currently live or are domiciled.

OD quota seats are far more competitive than DR quota seats because the entire country’s JEE Main rank holders compete for only 15% of seats. In JAC Delhi 2026, IIIT-Delhi CSAI (OD) had a Round 1 closing rank of just 758, while the DR quota closed around 2,700 for the same programme.

JAC Delhi 2027 Participating Colleges and Seat Matrix

Five universities participate in JAC Delhi 2027 counselling. JAC Delhi 2026 offered 7,861 seats — a jump of over 1,270 seats from 2025, largely because DSEU rejoined the pool. Popular B.Tech Programmes in JAC Delhi 2027

Computer Science-related programmes are by far the most competitive in JAC Delhi. Here are the key programmes to know:

• CSE with AI / CSAI: Offered at IIIT-Delhi and NSUT. The tightest cutoffs in all of JAC Delhi — IIIT-Delhi CSAI (OD) had a Round 1 closing rank of just 758 in 2026.
• Computer Science Engineering (CSE): Available at all five universities. DTU CSE and NSUT CSE are the most popular choices for engineering aspirants.
• Information Technology (IT): Available at DTU, NSUT, and IGDTUW. Slightly more accessible than CSE but still highly competitive at DTU and NSUT.
• Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE): Available at DTU, NSUT, IGDTUW, and IIIT-Delhi. Second-most popular branch after CSE/IT.
• Electrical Engineering: Available at DTU, NSUT, and IGDTUW. More accessible closing ranks — typically around rank 35,000–40,000 (DR General) at top institutes.
• Mechanical Engineering: Available at DTU and NSUT. Closing ranks typically above 50,000 (DR General) — one of the more accessible options at top JAC colleges.
• DSEU Programmes: DSEU offers skill-integrated B.Tech in CSE, Electronics, Mechanical and related fields across nine Delhi campuses. DSEU typically has the most accessible closing ranks in JAC Delhi — a strong safety-net option.

IGDTUW is a women-only university — all 1,323 seats at IGDTUW are exclusively for female candidates. Male candidates cannot fill IGDTUW choices in JAC Delhi 2027.

JAC Delhi 2027 Registration Process

JAC Delhi 2027 registration will be done entirely online at jacdelhi.admissions.nic.in. Based on the 2026 pattern, the main window is expected to open in late May 2027 and remain open for about 12 days. Complete all steps — form filling, document upload, fee payment, and choice filling — within this window. A second fresh registration window may open before Round 2 (in 2026, this was June 26–28), but you should not rely on it.

Step-by-Step Registration for JAC Delhi 2027

• Step 1 — Visit the Official Portal: Go to jacdelhi.admissions.nic.in and click "New Candidate Registration" when the window opens
• Step 2 — Enter JEE Main 2027 Credentials: Enter your JEE Main 2027 Application Number and password to verify your identity and auto-populate your JEE Main data
• Step 3 — Fill the Application Form: Provide personal details, Class 12 board details, PCM marks, English marks, category details, and contact information. Verify all details before submitting — errors in category or marks can affect your eligibility
• Step 4 — Upload Documents: Upload a passport-size photograph and signature in JPG format within the specified size limits
• Step 5 — Pay Registration Fee: Pay ₹1,500 via credit card, debit card, or net banking. You can also pay in cash via SBI bank challan. This fee is non-refundable regardless of whether you receive any seat allotment
• Step 6 — Proceed to Choice Filling: After payment, immediately fill your college-programme choice list. Registration alone does not guarantee a seat — choice filling and locking is a separate and equally critical step
• Step 7 — Print Confirmation: Download and print your registration confirmation slip. You will need it at document verification

The ₹1,500 registration fee is non-refundable. Double-check your category (General / OBC-NCL / SC / ST / EWS) and quota (DR or OD) before paying — you cannot change these after submission.

JAC Delhi 2027 Choice Filling

Choice filling is one of the most important steps in JAC Delhi 2027 counselling. You must rank your preferred college-course combinations in order of priority. The seat allotment algorithm uses your rank and this priority list to find you the best available seat across all rounds.

How Choice Filling Works in JAC Delhi

• Log in to the portal after registration and navigate to the Choice Filling section
• Browse and add choices: Search for available college-course-category combinations by institute name, programme, or quota (DR/OD). Add all combinations you would accept
• Arrange in priority order: Put your genuine first choice at the top (Choice 1) — the system tries to give you the highest available choice based on your rank. Put safer options lower in the list
• Lock choices: You must manually lock before the deadline. If you don’t lock, the system auto-locks at 11:30 PM on the last day. Locked choices cannot be changed after the deadline

Smart Choice Filling Tips for JAC Delhi 2027

• Add as many choices as possible: Do not limit yourself to 5–10 choices. Add every college-programme combination you would genuinely accept. A longer list costs nothing but gives the algorithm many more options to find a match for you
• Put your real dream branch first: Don’t second-guess yourself — put your actual preference at the top. If you qualify for it, you get it. Being conservative only hurts you
• Include multiple branches from top institutes: If getting into DTU or NSUT matters more than the specific branch, add Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical from those universities lower in your list. You can always try to upgrade in later rounds
• Add DSEU as a safety net: DSEU branches have significantly more accessible closing ranks. Adding DSEU options lower in your list provides a safety net even at a higher (weaker) rank
• Check DR and OD variants separately: The same programme has different closing ranks under DR and OD quotas. If you qualify for DR, add the DR variant of your preferred choices — it is typically far more accessible than OD
• Use JAC Delhi 2026 official OR-CR PDFs as reference: Download the round-wise cutoffs from jacdelhi.admissions.nic.in/or-cr/ and study where your expected rank falls. Target choices whose 2026 closing rank is 2,000–5,000 ranks better than your expected 2027 rank for safety

Seat Freeze, Float, and Slide: What to Choose

When you report to your allotted institute after each round, you must choose one of three seat options. This decision determines whether you are considered for improvements in subsequent rounds. Choose carefully — you cannot change this option after reporting for that round.

• Freeze: Choose this if you are fully satisfied with your current allotment and do not want any further changes. Your seat is locked and confirmed. You will not be considered for upgradation in Rounds 3, 4, or the Upgradation Round. Best option if you got your first or a very high-preference choice.
• Float: Choose this if you want to keep your current allotment but also want the system to check whether a better choice (higher in your preference list, possibly at a different institute or branch) becomes available in the next round. If a better seat opens up, you get the upgrade automatically. If no better seat is available, you keep your current allotment safely. This is the right option for most candidates who are not fully satisfied with their current allotment.
• Slide: Similar to Float, but Slide only considers upgradation within the same institute — to a better branch, not to a different college. Use this if you are happy with your allotted institute but would prefer a better programme within that same university.

For most candidates who receive a Round 1 or Round 2 allotment that is not their first preference, selecting Float is the right choice — it keeps you in the running for better options in Rounds 3 and 4 while completely protecting your current seat. Only select Freeze once you are sure you want to keep your current seat permanently.

If you want to exit JAC Delhi counselling entirely (for example, to pursue JoSAA or another process instead), formally withdraw online before the withdrawal deadline — July 12, 2026 in 2026 (similar date expected in 2027). Failure to report does not count as withdrawal — it simply cancels your current allotment round.

Tips for JAC Delhi 2027 Preparation and Counselling

A strong JEE Main 2027 rank and a well-planned counselling strategy together decide your JAC Delhi 2027 outcome. Here is what to focus on right now and during counselling.

For JEE Main 2027 Preparation (Now — January 2027)

• Set a rank target based on your category and region: For General OT candidates targeting DTU CSE, aim for a rank below 3,000. For General DR candidates, aim below 11,000 for DTU/NSUT CSE/CSAI. Work out your target percentile and build a study plan around it — don’t just "aim for the best"
• Start your revision now: JEE Main 2027 Session 1 is expected in January 2027. You have roughly 3–4 months from now (September 2026). Focus on Class 11 and 12 NCERT for Chemistry; JEE-specific books like HC Verma (Physics) and Cengage or Arihant (Math) for quantitative practice
• Appear in both JEE Main sessions: JEE Main 2027 will have two sessions. Appear in both Session 1 (January 2027) and Session 2 (April 2027). Your best of the two scores is considered. This gives you a second attempt if Session 1 is below expectations
• Solve previous year papers: JEE Main 2024 and 2025 question papers are the most accurate practice material. Solve them under timed conditions and analyze your weak areas after each attempt
• Take full-length mock tests weekly: In the final 2 months before the exam, simulate the 3-hour, 90-question computer-based format at least once a week. Speed and accuracy together, not just knowledge, determine your JEE Main score

For JAC Delhi 2027 Counselling Strategy (May–August 2027)

• Download official 2026 OR-CR PDFs early: As soon as JAC Delhi 2027 opens, download the 2026 official cutoff PDFs from jacdelhi.admissions.nic.in/or-cr/. Study round-wise, category-wise, and quota-wise closing ranks for your target colleges
• Confirm your region quota before registering: Your school’s location (within NCT of Delhi or outside) determines your DR or OD quota. Collect your school Transfer Certificate or Passing Certificate in advance — you’ll need it at document verification
• Keep your EWS or OBC-NCL certificate current: EWS certificates are valid only for the financial year in which they are issued. Get them renewed in early 2027 if yours is from 2025-26
• Add 30+ choices in your list: There is no downside to adding more choices. A comprehensive list covering dream, target, and safety options is the single biggest factor in getting the best possible outcome from JAC Delhi counselling
• Do not withdraw prematurely to "re-enter": Once you receive a seat and select Float, your current seat is protected. There is no benefit to withdrawing and re-entering — you will lose your current allotment without gaining anything
