University of Hull is a public research university located in Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, ranked #575 in the QS World University Rankings 2027. Hull University offers over 500 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes taught in English, with strong Indian intake into MSc Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, MSc Business Management, LLM International Law, and BSc Computer Science. Three intakes each year (September, January, and May) give applicants from India multiple entry points to the two-year graduate route visa pathway.

University of Hull Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027

Indian applicants meet Hull’s thresholds with a recognised bachelor’s degree plus one accepted English test score.

  • Postgraduate academic: Bachelor’s degree with 55% or CGPA 5.5/10 from a recognised Indian university (recommended); some Business School courses ask for 60%.
  • Undergraduate academic: Class 12 with 70% to 85% depending on programme, from CBSE, CISCE, or a recognised state board.
  • English language (PG): IELTS 6.5 overall with 5.5 or 6.0 in each component, TOEFL iBT 79 to 93 (0-120 legacy scale) with Reading 10 / Listening 9 / Speaking 17 / Writing 19, or PTE Academic 61 with 51 or 54 in each skill.
  • English language (UG): IELTS 6.0 with 5.5 in each skill, TOEFL iBT 60 to 78 (0-120 legacy scale) with matching component minimums, or PTE Academic 59 with 51 in each skill.
  • Test waiver: Applicants with 70% to 80% in Class 12 English from CBSE, CISCE, NIOS, or listed state boards may be waived from IELTS.

Key insight: The Class 12 English waiver is board-specific; keep Karnataka and Tamil Nadu board mark sheets ready as officer discretion applies to each application.

University of Hull Acceptance Rate 2027

Hull University does not publish an official acceptance rate. Third-party datasets place the offer rate for international applicants at 55% (estimated), positioning Hull as a moderately selective post-1992 alternative to the Russell Group (a self-selecting network of 24 large research-intensive UK universities).

The rate varies by faculty: Business and Computer Science conversion is competitive because of scholarship-driven demand from South Asia, while Arts and Humanities offers usually clear on the first review.

Reality check: A recommended 55% or CGPA 5.5/10 with a clean IELTS 6.5 typically converts into a conditional offer within four weeks of a complete application.

University of Hull Placements and Career Outcomes 2027

Hull University publishes graduate outcomes annually through the HESA Graduate Outcomes Survey; the Careers and Employability Service runs one-to-one mentoring for all international students.

  • Graduate employment (15 months post-graduation): 92% in employment or further study (HESA, 2024 cohort).
  • Median starting salary: GBP 26,500 per year (INR 34.58 lakh), market median for Yorkshire and the Humber graduates.
  • Sector recruiters: Reckitt, Smith and Nephew, KCOM, Siemens Gamesa, NHS Trusts, and PwC recruit from Hull’s Business School and STEM cohorts.
  • Post-study visa: All Indian graduates qualify for the UK Graduate Route, granting two years of unrestricted work (three for PhD).
  • Alumni footprint: Hull alumni include Lord John Prescott and Anthony Minghella; the India chapter runs an annual meet in Bengaluru.

Note: Reckitt’s Hull head office runs a dedicated Master’s recruitment drive in November each year, with roles ring-fenced for Business Analytics and Supply Chain graduates.

The University of Hull suits Indian applicants seeking a QS-ranked UK Masters at the lowest net cost, with a first-year outlay of around INR 25 to 28 lakh after the stacked Asia and India waivers, comfortably recovered by a UK graduate starting salary near INR 34.58 lakh. The two-year Graduate Route plus a compact single-site campus makes it a low-risk entry into Northern England employment.

Hull University is not the right pick for applicants targeting Big Four consulting London pipelines or Russell Group brand recognition; a stronger alternative there would be the University of Leeds, which sits inside the QS top 100.

FAQs

Ques. Can Indian students get an English test waiver at Hull University?

Ans. Yes. Applicants who scored 70% to 80% in Class 12 English from CBSE, CISCE, NIOS, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, or Maharashtra state boards may qualify for a waiver from IELTS or TOEFL. The waiver is discretionary and confirmed by the admissions officer after reviewing the mark sheet. Applicants from other boards should still submit an accepted English test score with the application.

Ques. What tuition fee deposit does Hull University require from Indian students?

Ans. Indian applicants pay a non-refundable tuition fee deposit of GBP 6,000 (INR 7.83 lakh) for the September 2026 intake and every intake thereafter, including January 2027 and May 2027. The May 2026 intake carried a lower deposit of GBP 4,000. The deposit is offset against the first-year tuition fee and unlocks the CAS letter needed for the UK student visa application.

Ques. Does Hull University accept a three-year Indian bachelor’s degree for Masters entry?

Ans. Yes. Hull University accepts three-year bachelor’s degrees from UGC-recognised Indian universities for direct entry into taught Masters programmes. The standard threshold is 55% or CGPA 5.5/10 (recommended); some Business School and STEM Masters ask for 60%. Applicants with a General or Pass degree may be redirected to a Pre-Masters pathway rather than the direct Masters route.

Ques. How much part-time work can Indian students do at Hull University?

Ans. Indian students on a UK Student visa can work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during scheduled breaks. Hull University’s on-campus JobShop lists library assistant, student ambassador, and event steward roles from GBP 12.21 per hour. Students must not exceed the 20-hour cap during teaching weeks or the visa can be cancelled at the next entry check.

Ques. Which Indian banks sanction education loans for Hull University?

Ans. Hull University appears on the sanctioned lender list at HDFC Credila, Avanse, Auxilo, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, and Bank of Baroda. Loan amounts up to INR 40 lakh are typically unsecured; higher amounts need property or FD collateral. The CAS letter, offer letter, and I-20 equivalent visa acknowledgement letter are needed for disbursal, and most lenders release the tuition tranche directly to the university account.

Ques. Is a GMAT or GRE score required for Hull University Masters programmes?

Ans. No. Hull University does not require GMAT or GRE for any of its taught Masters programmes, including MBA, MSc Finance, MSc Business Management, and MSc Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. Admission decisions rest on the bachelor’s transcript, English test score, personal statement, and one reference. A strong GMAT above 650 can support borderline Business School applications but is not requested at the offer stage.

Ques. Can Indian students bring dependents to Hull University on a Student visa?

Ans. Dependants can join Indian students at Hull only if the course is a full-time postgraduate research programme of nine months or more, such as an MPhil or PhD. Taught Masters students starting from January 2024 onwards cannot bring dependants on the Student visa route. The financial proof required for a dependant is GBP 845 per month for up to nine months, held for 28 consecutive days before the visa application.

Ques. What credential verification does Hull University require for Indian transcripts?

Ans. Hull University verifies Indian bachelor’s degrees through ECCTIS (formerly UK NARIC) for atypical qualifications, and through WES for applicants targeting onward US mobility. Original transcripts and degree certificates must be posted or uploaded to MyHull. Apostille from the Ministry of External Affairs is not required at the offer stage but is often requested by UKVI at the visa appointment for degrees from state universities.

  • The University has one campus in Hull. The University has all the facilities, like a Medical, a library, sports ground.
  • It has one nightclub, which is the heart of the university, and I enjoyed my time over there.
  • There are different sports a student can take part in. Also, there are many on-campus events that happen to increase student interaction.
  • I loved my time on campus.

Fees

  • Fees at the University of Hull for a Master's in AI and Data Science were around 9000 pounds. It includes tuition fees only, and I did not take college accommodation.
  • The fees can be paid semester-wise and yearly.
  • My rent was around 350 pounds per month, and including all the expenses, I was spending 600 pounds monthly, other than fees.
  • I was living near the campus, so I used to walk to the university.

  • There were various campus buildings inside the university dedicated to medical, engineering, finance ,etc. madam turner was the cafeteria name which we used to go to for food and beverage
  • The facilities provided were all library, sports facilities with equipment and medical support and an ambulance on the go. The college even had a pub and night place for students within premises.cultural events were there wherein we used to bond with other students and play sports like cricket, gym, badminton etc

Fees

  • Semester wise fees are calculated and you have to pay in pounds my total monthly breakup was of 30,000 pounds in total and the college provided me the residence in the same.the other expenses of personal expense like shopping and grocery depends on person to person and it is typically in a range of 100 pounds for a month.
  • Again it depends on the choice of food and quality of the same.

  • My university has a single campus, which is quite big and has all the facilities that a student can dream from 24 hours library to engineering labs with mainframe computers and further for sports we had a rugby field, swimming pool, volley ball, football, tennis etc overall we had more than 100 sports and activity clubs available on campus.
  • There was not much of a fest culture in my university but more of a pub night on a Wednesday where we would have karaoke and sort of like a mini night club with discounted drinks and food for students.

Fees

  • Tuition was 9750 GBP which was for the whole year, payable in 3 trimesters and my hostel was 7200 GBP with kitchen sharing. This was payable across 8 months For groceries to cook food you can estimate 150-200 GBP this changes with the city living in. For transportation another 100 GBP is sufficient as local buses have discounts for students and even on trains it is 1/3rd off. There is no mess service like indian colleges so you are yourself responsible for cooking your meals
  • If going out once a while with friends you can factor in 50-60 GBP depending on the location
