Indian students planning to join in September should start preparing their applications early to allow enough time for document submission, English-language requirements, scholarship applications and visa arrangements.

Indian students should check both the university’s standard entry requirements and the specific conditions of their chosen programme before applying.
-
Undergraduate entry: Applicants generally need 65% or above in Class XII from CBSE, CISCE, or a recognised state board, depending on the course.
-
Postgraduate entry: Applicants typically need a bachelor's degree with around 60% to 65%, depending on the programme and its UK degree-equivalency requirements.
-
Standard English requirement: Many courses accept IELTS 6.0, with at least 5.5 in each component. Other accepted qualifications may include TOEFL iBT and PTE Academic, subject to the university’s score requirements.
-
Higher English requirements: Courses such as Law, Nursing and certain Health programmes may require IELTS 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in each component.
The university may also accept alternative English-language qualifications, including LanguageCert IESOL, Oxford ELLT, Kaplan KITE, NCUK qualifications, Trinity ISE III and IGCSE English, subject to the applicable course and admissions requirements.
University of Hull IELTS Waiver for Indian Students
Indian applicants may be eligible for an IELTS exemption if they meet the university’s accepted English-language criteria. According to Hull’s English-language requirements guidance, applicants who have completed a degree taught entirely in English in certain recognised countries may qualify for an exemption. However, completing a bachelor's degree in English in India does not automatically guarantee an IELTS waiver. For undergraduate applicants, a strong English score in Class XII from CBSE, CISCE or a recognised state board may be considered as evidence of proficiency, depending on the university’s assessment and course requirements. Students who do not meet the required English-language level may also be able to take a 4-, 8- or 12-week Pre-Sessional English course, if eligible, before starting their main programme.

University of Hull Application Process
The University of Hull uses different application routes depending on the level of study. Undergraduate applicants apply through UCAS, while students applying for postgraduate programmes generally submit their applications through the MyHull portal. Indian applicants should prepare their academic records, identity documents and English-language test results before starting the process.
-
Register on the relevant platform: Undergraduate applicants should create a UCAS account for September 2027 entry. The application cycle opened on 12 May 2026, with applications available to universities from 1 September 2026. Postgraduate applicants can create a MyHull account and apply according to their chosen course's availability.
-
Pay the application fee: UCAS charges GBP 22 (INR 2,848) for one choice and GBP 26.50 (INR 3,431) for two or more choices, according to the stated fee structure. Direct postgraduate applications through MyHull generally have no application fee. Check the latest charges before submitting.
-
Upload the required documents: These may include Class XII marksheets, degree certificates and transcripts, passport details, English-language test results, a personal statement and academic references. Exact requirements depend on the course.
-
Receive and respond to your offer: Once the university reviews your application, you may receive a conditional or unconditional offer. Follow the instructions in your offer letter and use the designated portal to accept it.
-
Pay the required tuition deposit: If applicable, pay the deposit by the university's stated deadline. The GBP 6,000 (INR 7.60 lakhs) deposit cited for eligible Indian students starting from September 2026 should be confirmed with Hull before payment. Once the relevant conditions are met, the university can proceed with issuing your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).
-
Apply for your UK Student visa: After receiving your CAS, complete the online visa application through GOV.UK, arrange your biometric appointment at an authorised visa application centre in India and prepare for your arrival before enrolment.
Insider note: Complete your application carefully and submit all required documents together wherever possible. Missing English-language results, incomplete transcripts or unclear scans can delay the admissions decision. Although postgraduate applications are often assessed on a rolling basis, processing times vary by course and application volume.

Postgraduate applications are generally assessed on a rolling basis, while undergraduate applicants follow the UCAS admissions cycle. Understanding these timelines helps Indian students plan English-language tests, tuition deposits and visa appointments.
-
Postgraduate decisions: A complete application may receive an initial decision within two to four weeks, depending on the course and application volume.
-
Undergraduate decisions: Applicants receive updates through UCAS, with processing times varying according to the application date and admissions cycle.

- Wide options of subjects available.

Dislikes
- During my time, we had online lectures and we were going only 1 day in a week to attend practicals which was quite disappointing.
- The syllabus did not cover the topic in the deep. It only gave high level knowledge.
- The city is boring and quiet.
Scholarship
- There are different scholarships available for the master's, but I did not get one. I know one of my friends ' friends who got a scholarship of 10000 pounds, but this kind of scholarship was given to a very limited number of students. I think for the master's 5 students who get the scholarship every year, the amount can be different then the above-mentioned one.

- No, there wasn't any scholarship for the program. The program was open to applicants with commonwealth scholarships and stuff like that which home countries' governments pay. for, but I didn't see any of my classmates on scholarship or grants.
- There is no TA/RA system in Europe and UK for master's hence there isn't a part time earning from university. The department will post voluntary paid work but that is only for specific weeks or days so that can't be relied upon as a regular source of income.
