University of Notre Dame fees for undergraduate courses are USD 69,280 (INR 66.11 Lakhs) and USD 75,460 (INR 71.99 Lakhs) for postgraduate courses. Highly competitive courses such as MS Business Analytics, MS Finance, MS Computer Science and Engineering, and MS Mechanical Engineering are priced between USD 69,110 and USD 74,618 per year

The Fall 2026 intake has already closed. Applicants can apply for the Fall 2027 intake starting in August 2027, with a small Spring 2027 window open for a handful of graduate programs. Given a 4- to 8-week U.S. F-1 visa timeline after the I-20 is issued, only the Fall 2027 cycle is workable as a full application from India.

  • Undergraduate tuition and mandatory fees: USD 69,794 (INR 66.60 Lakhs) per year
  • Mendoza MBA tuition: USD 75,460 (INR 71.99 Lakhs) per year
  • MS Business Analytics tuition (Fall start): USD 69,630 (INR 66.44 Lakhs) per year
  • MS Finance tuition: USD 74,618 (INR 71.20 Lakhs) per year
  • Standard Graduate School tuition (MS CSE, MS Mechanical): USD 69,110 (INR 65.94 Lakhs) per year

All INR figures use the xe.com mid-market rate of 1 USD = INR 95.42 on 12 August 2026 IST.

Fall 2027 Intake: Deadline Pressure Cycle

Intake: Fall 2027 is the realistic entry, with Restrictive Early Action on 1 November 2026 and Regular Decision on 1 January 2027 for undergraduates. Mendoza MBA Round 1 falls in early October 2026 and Round 2 in early January 2027. Spring 2027 is closed for undergraduates and limited to select graduate programs with a 1 October 2026 deadline.

Fee update: Fall 2027 admits are billed at the 2027-28 rate, projected roughly 4% above the current 2026-27 tuition of USD 69,280 (INR 66.11 Lakhs) for undergraduates and USD 75,460 (INR 71.99 Lakhs) for the MBA. After the average need-based grant, net first-year cost for an Indian undergraduate lands closer to INR 33 to 40 Lakhs.

When to pay: A non-refundable enrolment deposit is due by 1 May 2027 for Fall 2027 undergraduate admits, with the balance billed in two semester instalments in August 2027 and January 2028. Detailed methods and steps are in the Tuition Deposit and Payment Options section below.

Scholarships: The CSS Profile is due 15 November 2026 for Restrictive Early Action and 15 January 2027 for Regular Decision. Missing either window forfeits the need-based grant for that round. Inlaks Shivdasani and JN Tata Endowment applications open in October to November 2026 for Fall 2027 disbursement.

The application fee is a flat USD 85 (INR 8,112) across all levels.

Undergraduate Fees: Fall 2027

Notre Dame prices undergraduate tuition as a single flat rate, the same for all majors from Arts and Letters to Engineering. The 2026-27 rate below applies to students already enrolled; Fall 2027 admits will pay the 2027-28 rate published in early 2027.

Programme Annual Tuition (USD) Annual Tuition (INR) Application Fee (USD)
BA / BS (Arts and Letters, Science, Architecture) USD 69,280 INR 66.11 Lakhs USD 85
BS Engineering (all disciplines) USD 69,280 INR 66.11 Lakhs USD 85
BBA Mendoza (Finance, Accounting, Marketing, IT Management) USD 69,280 INR 66.11 Lakhs USD 85

Note: Applicant also needs to pay a mandatory charge of  USD 514. The total cost, summing annual tuition fees and mandatory charges, is USD 69,794 (INR 66.60 Lakhs).

Postgraduate Fees: Fall 2027

Mendoza College of Business runs the highest-fee programmes, while the Graduate School charges a common rate across MS Computer Science and Engineering, MS Mechanical Engineering, and other STEM masters. The MSBA has two tracks with different price points depending on summer start or fall start.

Programme Annual Tuition (USD) Annual Tuition (INR) Application Fee (USD)
Mendoza Two-Year MBA USD 75,460 INR 71.99 Lakhs USD 175
MS Finance USD 74,618 INR 71.20 Lakhs USD 50
MS Business Analytics (Fall start) USD 69,630 INR 66.44 Lakhs USD 50
MS Computer Science and Engineering USD 69,110 INR 65.94 Lakhs USD 85
MS Mechanical Engineering USD 69,110 INR 65.94 Lakhs USD 85
Standard Graduate Mandatory Fees USD 500 INR 47,710 Included

Note: Notre Dame’s MSBA has a lower-cost summer-start pathway that splits tuition across a summer term and the fall-spring year, dropping the total programme cost to roughly USD 106,110 (INR 101.25 Lakhs) versus USD 100,820 (INR 96.20 Lakhs) for the fall-start ten-month version. The summer-start route front-loads the calendar but not the price.

Cost of Living in Notre Dame, Indiana for Indian Students

Notre Dame’s own published cost of attendance sets the non-tuition living budget at USD 22,192 (INR 21.18 Lakhs) for undergraduates covering a nine-month academic year. The town of Notre Dame is a small campus community adjoining South Bend, Indiana, cheaper than Boston or the Bay Area but more expensive than a similar Midwest college town because of the university-owned housing pricing.

Expense Monthly (USD) Monthly (INR) Annual (INR) Notes for Indian Students
Housing and Food (on-campus) USD 1,583 INR 1.51 Lakhs INR 18.13 Lakhs Required for first-year undergraduates; halal and vegetarian dining stations available

Total Living Cost USD 2.104 INR 2.01 Lakhs INR 24.10 Lakhs Nine months on-campus for UG; 12 months for graduate students

Note: First-year and second-year undergraduates at Notre Dame are required to live in university housing, so the USD 18,992 room-and-board line is non-negotiable for your first two years. Off-campus rentals in South Bend at USD 700 to 900 per month become an option only in junior and senior years.

Winter in northern Indiana runs cold, with daytime temperatures below zero degrees Celsius from December through February. Budget INR 25,000 to 30,000 in your first month for a proper down jacket, boots, and thermals, and factor a one-time INR 40,000 setup for bedding, kitchen basics, and a Wi-Fi router that South Bend rentals rarely include.

Currency Tip: Your first Notre Dame semester bill for Fall 2027 falls due in early August 2027. Book a forward contract with your Indian bank now against the 2026-27 USD-INR rate to lock the first tuition instalment, and use a zero-forex-markup card like Niyo, Fi, or IDFC First Bank for on-ground spending to save 2 to 3.5% on every swipe.

Total Cost of Studying at University of Notre Dame

The full-sticker first-year budget for an Indian undergraduate at Notre Dame is USD 92,921 (INR 88.66 Lakhs) including tuition, fees, housing, food, health insurance, and mandatory US Government charges. The two-year Mendoza MBA runs to approximately USD 217,600 (INR 2.08 Crore) across both years before scholarships.

Scenario Tuition Living Cost Mandatory US Fees Total Year 1
Undergraduate (9-month basis) USD 69,280 USD 22,192 USD 935 USD 92,407 (INR 88.17 Lakhs)
MBA (12-month basis) USD 75,460 USD 28,990 USD 935 USD 105,385 (INR 100.56 Lakhs)
MS Business Analytics (Fall start, 10 months) USD 69,630 USD 28,990 USD 935 USD 99,555 (INR 94.99 Lakhs)
MS Computer Science and Engineering (12 months) USD 69,110 USD 28,990 USD 935 USD 99,035 (INR 94.50 Lakhs)

Mandatory US fees: F-1 SEVIS fee USD 350 (one-time) plus visa MRV fee USD 185 (one-time), shown as Year 1 charge only.

A full four-year undergraduate degree at Notre Dame lands at approximately INR 3.70 Crore at current rates with a modest annual escalation, and the two-year Mendoza MBA totals close to INR 2.08 Crore. Financed through a Union Bank or SBI education loan at 10.5% interest over 10 years, an INR 2 Crore loan carries an EMI of approximately INR 2.70 Lakhs per month, while an INR 1 Crore loan sits closer to INR 1.35 Lakhs per month.

Key Insight: Notre Dame’s need-blind policy for international undergraduates typically brings the net first-year cost from INR 88 Lakhs down to INR 33 to 40 Lakhs for the average admitted Indian family. Submit the CSS Profile by 15 November 2026 for Restrictive Early Action or 15 January 2027 for Regular Decision to lock this reduction for Fall 2027 entry.

University of Notre Dame Tuition Deposit and Payment Options

Admitted undergraduates confirm their seat with a USD 500 (INR 47,710) non-refundable enrolment deposit, which secures the Fall 2027 spot and triggers the I-20 issue needed for the F-1 student visa. The deposit counts toward the first-semester tuition bill. Graduate seat deposits vary by programme: Mendoza MBA is USD 2,000 (INR 1.91 Lakhs), MS and Graduate School deposits are typically USD 300 to 500 (INR 28,626 to 47,710).

Methods of Payment for International Students

  • Convera (formerly Western Union GlobalPay for Students): Notre Dame’s preferred international payment provider, locks the USD-INR rate at initiation and clears in 2 to 4 business days.
  • Flywire: Alternative wire route accepted by Notre Dame, with competitive INR rates and full tracking to the university’s bank.
  • Bank wire (SWIFT): Direct telegraphic transfer from an Indian bank; slower and typically 2 to 3% more expensive than Convera or Flywire due to intermediary fees.
  • Education loan disbursement: Union Bank, SBI, HDFC Credila, and Avanse disburse directly to Notre Dame under the LRS (Liberalised Remittance Scheme) for verified I-20 admits.
  • Forex card: Useful for the deposit and small charges, but not for full tuition due to per-transaction caps.

Steps to Pay the Tuition Fee

  1. Accept the Notre Dame offer on the applicant portal by the reply-by date on your admit letter.
  2. Pay the enrolment deposit within 10 business days of acceptance to trigger the I-20 issue.
  3. Receive the I-20, then book and pay the SEVIS fee (USD 350) and F-1 visa MRV fee (USD 185) before the visa interview.
  4. Pay the first-semester balance to Notre Dame’s Office of Student Accounts by the August 2027 bill due date, using Convera or Flywire for best INR rates.
  5. Keep every payment receipt, bank confirmation, and university acknowledgement together with the LRS Form A2 for your visa file and for education-loan disbursement records.

Notre Dame bills tuition in two semester instalments: approximately USD 34,897 (INR 33.30 Lakhs) for undergraduates in August, and the same again in January, with no explicit early-payment discount on the sticker. There is no monthly payment plan option for international students without a US co-signer.

Tip for Indian Students: The Fall 2027 tuition bill is due in early August 2027, and Indian bank wires take 5 to 7 working days plus any RBI documentation requests. Initiate the Convera payment at least two weeks before the due date so a delay does not push you past registration and jeopardise your F-1 status.

Hidden Costs of Studying at University of Notre Dame

Beyond tuition and the university’s own cost-of-attendance line items, budget for these visa, one-time, and recurring charges that families routinely underestimate for the Fall 2027 intake.

  • SEVIS I-901 fee: USD 350 (INR 33,397) before the F-1 visa interview, non-refundable.
  • US F-1 visa MRV fee: USD 185 (INR 17,653) at the US consulate in India.
  • Return airfare Mumbai or Delhi to Chicago O’Hare: INR 90,000 to 1.30 Lakhs round trip; South Bend is a 145 km drive from ORD.
  • SAT or ACT for undergrad, GRE or GMAT for grad: INR 20,000 to 25,000 per attempt, plus INR 5,000 to 12,000 for TOEFL or IELTS retake.
  • Bank wire and forex spread on tuition transfers: approximately INR 40,000 to 70,000 per year if you use a plain SWIFT wire instead of Convera or Flywire.
  • Winter clothing and initial setup: INR 40,000 to 55,000 one-time, covering jacket, boots, bedding, kitchen basics.
  • Off-campus deposit in junior year: two months’ rent up front, approximately USD 1,600 (INR 1.53 Lakhs).

Budget approximately INR 3.5 to 4.5 Lakhs for first-year hidden costs beyond the Notre Dame cost of attendance, on top of the sticker.

Note: The single item Indian families most commonly forget is the mandatory Notre Dame health insurance premium of USD 3,290 (INR 3.14 Lakhs) per year, billed with your first-semester statement in August. This is separate from the housing-and-food line, and only a US-based comprehensive plan qualifies for a waiver.

Fee Saving Strategies for Indian Students at University of Notre Dame

The single highest-value lever for Fall 2027 is the CSS Profile filed before the 15 November 2026 Restrictive Early Action window. Missing it forfeits the need-based grant that averages INR 45 to 55 Lakhs per year for an admitted international student.

  • File the CSS Profile early: Notre Dame’s need-based aid is by far the largest reduction available; submit by the REA deadline to be assessed first when institutional funds are widest.
  • Stack Notre Dame aid with Indian scholarships: Inlaks, JN Tata, and KC Mahindra all pay directly to you, not the university, so they reduce out-of-pocket without cutting the need-based award.
  • Work on-campus 20 hours per week under F-1: Notre Dame on-campus wage of USD 12 to 16 per hour yields approximately USD 8,000 to 10,000 (INR 7.63 to 9.54 Lakhs) per academic year, covering roughly half of monthly living costs.
  • Claim Section 80E on your India tax return: Full interest deduction on your Indian education loan for eight years from repayment start, worth INR 3 to 5 Lakhs in tax savings across the loan life.
  • Use the F-1 OPT and STEM-OPT extension: Notre Dame’s MS Computer Science, MS Data Science, MSBA, and MS Engineering qualify for 12 months of OPT plus a 24-month STEM extension, giving you three years of US work rights to service the loan while earning in dollars.
  • Choose the MSBA Fall-start over Summer-start: Same degree, but the ten-month Fall-start route ends in May and lets you begin OPT roughly two months earlier than the Summer cohort, adding approximately INR 8 Lakhs of extra US earning.

Tip for Indian Students: The Notre Dame need-based grant is the single most valuable saving lever for Fall 2027 undergraduate applicants, averaging INR 45 to 55 Lakhs per year for admitted internationals. Everything else on this list combined saves less than this one CSS Profile submission, so protect the 15 November 2026 deadline as your non-negotiable.

Is University of Notre Dame Worth the Cost for Indian Students

A four-year Notre Dame undergraduate degree at approximately INR 3.70 Crore sticker is a defensible investment for admitted Indian students because the need-based grant typically cuts net cost to INR 1.50 to 1.80 Crore, and the median first-destination outcome of the Notre Dame 2024 graduating class was a full-time job or graduate school placement within six months for 96% of the cohort, with a median starting salary of USD 75,000 (INR 71.57 Lakhs) per year.

Notre Dame ranks 20th nationally in the US News Best Colleges 2026 and 194th globally in the THE World University Rankings 2026, with subject strength at world number 12 in Philosophy, 51st in History, and top-1 globally in Theology per QS. The Mendoza MBA sits at rank 61 in the FT Global MBA 2026, with a three-year post-MBA compensation of USD 200,000 plus for Mendoza graduates in consulting and finance tracks.

On the US Post-Study Work path, an F-1 graduate from Notre Dame’s STEM-designated master's (MS CSE, MSBA, MSF, MS Mechanical) qualifies for the standard 12 months of OPT plus the 24-month STEM extension, giving three years to service the education loan in US dollars before an H-1B decision. At a USD 90,000 (INR 85.88 Lakhs) median tech-track salary, the monthly EMI of INR 2.70 Lakhs on a full-cost INR 2 Crore loan sits at roughly 38% of gross monthly income, tight but manageable and comfortably repayable within the loan’s 10-year window.

Key Insight: The number that makes Notre Dame a sound Fall 2027 decision is the need-based grant, averaging INR 45 to 55 Lakhs per year for admitted internationals. It converts a sticker cost few Indian families could sustain into a net cost payback horizon of approximately five to seven years post-graduation on a US-track salary.

Plan your Fall 2027 Notre Dame application against a first-year sticker budget of INR 88 Lakhs for undergraduates and INR 1.03 Crore for the Mendoza MBA, with the CSS Profile submitted by 15 November 2026 as your single most valuable action to unlock the need-based grant that typically cuts net cost by INR 45 to 55 Lakhs per year. Layer JN Tata, Inlaks, or KC Mahindra on top of the university award for Fall 2027 disbursement, and finance the residual through an SBI or Union Bank education loan at approximately INR 1.35 Lakhs monthly EMI per INR 1 Crore borrowed, comfortably serviceable against the USD 75,000-plus median starting salary that Notre Dame graduates earn on the F-1 STEM-OPT track.

Ans. Yes. F-1 status permits on-campus employment up to 20 hours per week during academic terms and 40 hours during breaks. Off-campus work is not permitted in the first year and requires CPT or OPT authorisation later.

Course Curriculum

The quality of academics is world-class, with dedicated and distinguished professors. The curriculum is also regularly updated to stay up to date with the latest trends. Special mention goes to the finance and analytics curriculum. There are opportunities to work on research projects with professors and to get involved with the University start-up incubation center for experiential learning. Also this year we will have the option of doing a mod in Chicago, NY, Silicon Valley, or Chile which will provide tremendous exposure. The University also provides the opportunity for international immersion as well as working on projects with corporates. Finally, Business on the Frontlines is a signature of the program where one gets to visit and work with war-torn and impoverished communities in several countries

Fees

$63,000 per year.

Some of the core courses are not my favorite but I'm glad I have given them a go and gone outside my comfort zone. There were a few courses I did not enjoy and don't like doing so I struggled. But the curriculum is good overall.

Fees

Notre Dame is way more expensive than any other university in Perth. I got told it was the same price in my interview but that was a lie.
