- Active student life with numerous events, workshops, and networking opportunities throughout the year.
- Excellent transportation and connectivity between campuses, making commuting convenient and efficient.
Course Curriculum
- The course curriculum is well-structured, regularly updated, and aligned with current industry trends, making it highly relevant. There are ample opportunities for research and industry exposure, and faculty members are approachable and supportive. By proactively reaching out to professors and volunteering, I got a part-time job as a grader.
- The number of classes per day and their timings depend on the courses selected and the campus location, such as Tempe or Polytechnic. Similarly, class sizes vary by subject, as many courses are shared among students from different programs, including Computer Science, Data Science, Robotics, and Software Engineering.
Admission Experience
- I chose Arizona State University due to its favorable location and the opportunity to pursue a specialized Master’s degree in Data Science. With the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence across industries, Data Science aligned well with my academic interests and career goals.
- The admission process was smooth and straightforward, and receiving an offer from ASU further reinforced my decision. Overall, my experience has been positive, particularly due to the dynamic campus environment, diverse learning opportunities, and strong industry-oriented focus of the program.
Faculty
- The faculty members are highly knowledgeable, approachable, and supportive. One professor who had a significant impact on my academic journey was Professor Samira. She provided me with part-time opportunities for two semesters and also gave me the chance to work as a volunteer during a summer camp.
- Her mentorship, understanding of nature, and dedication to student growth made a lasting impression on me and greatly enriched my learning experience.
Campus Life
- ASU has four campuses, with the Tempe campus being the largest and most active. The university offers a vibrant campus life with numerous student clubs, events, and extracurricular activities throughout the year.
- The campuses are equipped with extensive research facilities and laboratories, and many professors actively conduct research. Students can directly approach faculty members to explore research and volunteer opportunities.
- The libraries are popular study spaces, offering private rooms that can be reserved for group study sessions, meetings, or interviews. Sports and recreational facilities are also well-developed. The Sun Devil Fitness Complex includes a gym and various fitness amenities, while the sports facilities feature courts for basketball, badminton, and several other activities, along with open grounds for outdoor sports.
Part Time Jobs
- On-campus part-time jobs typically pay between USD 14–20 per hour, with some specialized roles offering up to USD 30 per hour; students can work a maximum of 20 hours per week, apply through the Workday portal, and while securing a position can be competitive, networking with professors, volunteering in research labs, and building connections often improve the chances of obtaining roles such as TA, RA, DA, or other campus jobs.
Placement
- Full-time job opportunities after graduation largely depend on an individual’s skills, prior experience, specialization, and market conditions. For students in technology-related programs, the typical salary range for full-time roles is approximately USD 80,000–120,000 per year, depending on the role, company, and location.
- Unlike the traditional campus placement system in India, students are expected to apply for jobs independently. However, the university actively supports career development through networking events, career fairs, company tabling sessions, and industry engagement opportunities. Many students secure roles through internships, professional networking, referrals, and online job portals.
Accommodation
- I found my accommodation through student WhatsApp groups, and the monthly rent ranged between USD 450 and 550, which included electricity, Wi-Fi, water, insurance, and community maintenance charges.
