Educational Qualification Requirements for TS ECET 2027

TS ECET 2027 recognises three qualifying streams. The stream you belong to determines which engineering or pharmacy branch you are eligible for.

1. Diploma in Engineering or Technology

You must have passed or be appearing in the final year of a 3-year Diploma in Engineering or Technology from SBTET Telangana or any other recognized State Board of Technical Education. The diploma branch must correspond to the B.E./B.Tech branch you wish to enter through lateral admission (see branch-wise table below).

2. BSc with Mathematics

You must have passed BSc with Mathematics as one of the main subjects from a recognized university under the 10+2+3 pattern. BSc (Mathematics) graduates are eligible only for B.Tech programs in Mathematics and Science streams, not all engineering branches. This is a common eligibility condition that is often missed — verify your specific stream before applying.

3. Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm)

You must hold a D.Pharm from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). D.Pharm holders are eligible exclusively for lateral entry into B.Pharmacy programs and cannot apply for B.E./B.Tech through TS ECET.

TS ECET 2027 Age Limit

TS ECET 2027 has no minimum or maximum age limit. TSCHE does not prescribe any age restriction for appearing in the entrance test or for seeking lateral entry admissions in Telangana colleges. Students of any age who hold the required diploma or degree qualification are free to apply. This applies equally to all categories — General, OBC, SC and ST.

Minimum Marks Required by Category

Your aggregate marks in the qualifying diploma or degree must meet the category-specific threshold to be eligible for TS ECET 2027. The minimum percentage is calculated across all semesters or years of the qualifying programme.

Category Minimum Aggregate Marks
General (OC), BC-A, BC-B, BC-C, BC-E 45% in the qualifying diploma/degree
SC, ST, BC-D 40% in the qualifying diploma/degree
Differently Abled (PH) 40% in the qualifying diploma/degree
Final Year Appearing Students Provisionally eligible; final marks verified at counselling

A student who clears the TS ECET entrance test but falls short of the minimum qualifying percentage in their diploma will not be considered eligible during counselling. Ensure your aggregate meets the threshold before applying.

Branch-wise Eligibility for Lateral Entry

Diploma branch and the B.E./B.Tech branch you want to enter must be compatible as per TSCHE norms. The table below covers the most common mappings for TS ECET 2027.

Qualifying Diploma Branch Eligible B.E./B.Tech Branch
Civil Engineering Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering
Electrical Engineering Electrical and Electronics Engineering
Electronics and Communication Engineering Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering
Computer Engineering / Computer Science / Information Technology Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology
Chemical Engineering Chemical Engineering
Mining Engineering Mining Engineering
Metallurgical Engineering Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
BSc (Mathematics) B.Tech — Mathematics and Science streams only
Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) B.Pharmacy

Students whose diploma branch does not directly appear in the list above should refer to the official TS ECET 2027 information brochure for a full equivalency table. Applying to an ineligible branch leads to cancellation of admission at any stage.

Domicile and Nationality Requirements

All TS ECET 2027 applicants must be Indian citizens. Telangana allocates 85% of lateral entry seats to local area students and 15% to non-local students from other states. Your local area status is determined based on where you studied for your qualifying diploma or where your parents hold domicile within Telangana.

You must produce valid residence certificates, study certificates or other TSCHE-prescribed documents at the time of online document verification and counselling to establish your local status. Failure to furnish the required domicile proof results in reclassification as a non-local student, reducing your eligibility to the 15% non-local quota.
