      Exam Report for GATE 2020

As per the official statistics, this year saw a drop in the number of applicants registered for GATE 2020. A total of 858,030 candidates have registered for GATE 2020 which is the lowest when compared with the data of previous years. Out of the total number of candidates registered for GATE 2020, only 685,088 candidates appeared for the exam.
One of the reasons for this 20% dip in could be the hike in fees of M.Tech Courses. In September 2019, IIT Council, the major decision-making body for tech schools in India had approved a proposal to increase the tuition fee of M.Tech courses. As per the proposal, a hike of 10% is proposed in the current fee of Rs. 20,000 which will take place in a phased manner over a period of three years. However, the decision has been postponed by the authorities until further proceedings.
