Ans. IIEST Shibpur is better than BITS Sindri. Academics, placements, exposure, in terms of, all these factors it is well ahead. But you should give more priority to your choice of course while choosing one of these institutes. Architecture and Metallurgy are two entirely separate branches. According to the recent highlights, BIT Sindri placements for Metallurgy are better. The highest and average CTC for the branch is INR 10.11 LPA and INR 4.76 LPA, respectively. Read more

Ans. From the half-century of its existence, the newfound department of Architecture had produced 800 graduates in Architecture and 300 postgraduates in Town Planning. NASA (National Association of Students of Architecture) was founded by the undergrad students collectively. The association is non-political and non-profitable. The department has a dynamic student’s body. Even its Alumni are spread across the world and the senior-junior relationship is wonderful. Teaching: The professors are experienced, but they have a small ounce of work experience. So, their teaching lacks the upgraded trends and technologies that are being used in the present day. Even the syllabus is outdated. Most of the professors are not very student-friendly. It is better to maintain professionalism. Initially, the students find the college burdensome, but with time it is manageable. Most classes are held regularly. Placement: There is hardly any placement assistance in this department. Students have to arrange the job/ internship for themselves. Construction companies that visit the campus are not interested in recruiting architecture students. Hardly 4-5 students get selected in MN Dastur. Although if a student has maintained a decent portfolio, they can get a job at lower packages. IIEST Shibpur is one of the best colleges in eastern India in terms of infrastructure, campus, cultural fests (REBECA), and accommodation. The architecture department is the most active. Ans. IIEST Shibpur has been a top-notch institute for architecture since 1949. The institute offers town & regional planning as a part of the architecture course. It offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Amongst 66 top participating institutes of the country; the institute holds 6th rank. It has been able to provide knowledge to 1000 graduates and more than 300 postgraduates in the last 50 years. The highlights of the department are as follows: Infrastructure The classrooms and design places have properly equipped facilities including the CAD LAB. Wi-Fi is also available 24*7. The campus is the best in the entire Eastern India. The premises are filled up with facilities like basketball ground, oval, graveyard. Student & Alumni The alumni are spread all across as its inception is quite old. There is an established legacy of people who have worked with NASA and ZONASA. The talented students have also been able to bag good positions in different design positions. Faculty The faculty comprises good assistant and associate professors from across the country. The classes are also held regularly with an updated syllabus. They provide quite conceptual and practical clarity to the students in order to pursue a great career ahead. Placements The field of architecture offers very few placements pertaining to this very college as most individuals have to find their own internships or jobs. There are no core companies that come to campus for recruitment making it difficult to earn a living. The architecture domain is quite interest-specific; therefore it should be opted for only when the individual is adamant enough to pursue it for the rest of life.
