AITS B.Tech AI FAQs
Ques. I have a Diploma in Computer Engineering. Can I get lateral entry into B.Tech AI at AITS, or will I be placed in B.Tech CSE?
Ans. Diploma holders in Computer Engineering are eligible for lateral entry into B.Tech Artificial Intelligence at AITS through Rajasthan LEEP. During LEEP choice filling, you can specifically select B.Tech AI (Lateral) at AITS as your preference. Seat allotment is based on your diploma merit rank and the choices you fill. If you have a strong diploma percentage, you can secure the AI branch. If the AI seats are filled, you may be allotted CSE or another branch based on your choices. It is advisable to fill B.Tech AI as your first preference if that is your goal.
Ques. What is the difference between B.Tech AI (Lateral) and B.Tech CSE (Lateral) at AITS?
Ans. Both programs are 3-year lateral entry programs at AITS. B.Tech AI (Lateral) has 30 seats and focuses specifically on artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, NLP, and computer vision. B.Tech CSE (Lateral) has 60 seats and covers a broader computer science curriculum. From the 3rd semester onwards, AI students study specialized AI subjects while CSE students study general CS subjects. The degree awarded is different - B.Tech AI vs B.Tech CSE - but both are from RTU, Kota, and are equally recognized. If you are specifically interested in AI/ML careers, the B.Tech AI lateral program is the better choice.
Ques. Is the B.Tech AI Lateral program at AITS worth it compared to doing a regular B.Tech AI from a better college?
Ans. This depends on your situation. If you have already completed a Diploma in Computer Engineering and want to upgrade to a B.Tech degree quickly (in 3 years instead of 4), the lateral entry program at AITS is a practical option. The degree from RTU, Kota, is recognized for government jobs and GATE. However, if you have the option to get into a better-ranked college through REAP or other counselling processes, that would be preferable for placement prospects. The key advantage of AITS lateral entry is the low fee (INR 77,402/year) and the shorter duration. Career success in AI ultimately depends more on your skills, projects, and certifications than the college name.
Ques. What programming languages and tools are taught in the B.Tech AI program at AITS?
Ans. The B.Tech AI curriculum at AITS (affiliated to RTU, Kota) typically covers Python as the primary programming language for AI/ML, along with R for data analysis. Tools and frameworks covered include TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, OpenCV (for computer vision), and NLTK/spaCy (for NLP). The curriculum also includes mathematics for AI (linear algebra, calculus, probability, statistics), data structures, algorithms, and database management. Students are encouraged to supplement their learning with online courses and Kaggle competitions to build a strong portfolio.
Ques. Can I pursue M.Tech in AI or Data Science after completing B.Tech AI (Lateral) from AITS?
Ans. Yes, absolutely. After completing B.Tech AI (Lateral) from AITS (RTU-affiliated), you are eligible to appear for GATE (CS/IT paper) and apply for M.Tech programs at IITs, NITs, and other universities. Many universities also offer M.Tech in AI, Data Science, and Machine Learning. The lateral entry route does not affect your eligibility for postgraduate programs. You can also apply for M.Tech directly at RTU-affiliated colleges through RMCAAT or other state-level counselling processes. A good GATE score can open doors to M.Tech at premier institutions with stipend support.
Ques. How does the LEEP counselling work for B.Tech AI Lateral at AITS? Is it competitive?
Ans. The Rajasthan LEEP counselling is conducted online by CEG Rajasthan. Since B.Tech AI is a relatively new and specialized branch, and AITS is a private college (not among the top-ranked), the competition for lateral entry AI seats at AITS is moderate. Diploma holders in Computer Engineering with 60%+ marks can typically secure admission through LEEP. The process involves online registration on cegrajasthan.in, choice filling, and merit-based seat allotment. If you do not get a seat through LEEP, AITS also offers direct management quota admissions. The entire LEEP process is online and typically completed within 4-6 weeks of registration opening.
